Chromatic Roses

The lore of how much our favorite gardeners LOVE d&d is plentiful, to say the least. However, an area that has been less explored are all of the other beloved hobbies that (sometimes) overlap with d&d! Time to update the Wiki doc, lore nerds.

This week in the Rose Garden, Caitie and Soren discuss all of their favorite hobbies that have either bled into their d&d sessions, or vice-versa! From doodles to video games, they'll be filling you in on all of it. So get comfy, grab some snacks, and kick back in the grass. Or wherever you enjoy your favorite podcasts, we aren't your mom!

Do you regularly find yourself singing about your favorite ice cream sandwiches? Enjoy aimlessly wandering around in alien ruins with a child-like sense of wonder? Do you like giant women? Then, perhaps you're actually Steven Universe! ... You're not? ... Well, you don't have to tell the other players at the table that. BECAUSE---

(Content warning: discussion of religious themes and cases of, but not specific details about, self harm and deaths in the fairly-distant past)

This week in the Rose Garden, Soren and Caitie are continuing on through the History of D&D by expanding upon the era known as the "Satanic Panic". Did D&D instigate devil worship? Did the game make children go missing? Did every player immediately become a dice goblin? Well, spoiler alert, only one of those is true--but you'll have to tune in to find out for yourself!

If you're trying too hard to look cool, you're only going to look like a fool... to yourself. Because making a complicated D&D character may sound like a great idea to begin with, but in reality, you might only be making your life harder. And life's (hard enough) like this already, so may just chill out and lay back, because complicated has already been done before. Maybe lets just... keep it simple?

This week in the Rosegarden, Caitie and Soren discuss how complicated characters have gotten in their way in the past, and how they have overcome them in the present. From RP to Combat, lets talk about how to keep things easygoing and fun around the table!

Editing TJ: "Give me just 2 more hours, I promise I can stuff a few more Avril Levigne lyrics in there. No, I'm not doing this for the listeners, I'm doing this for me."

Monster of the Week TTRPG

https://evilhat.com/product/monster-of-the-week/

It's time, Rosebuds. You're old enough now, you've been through all the seasons. You see, when a couple of players love a game very much, they take a pencil and some paper and make them do a special little dance together. And then BOOM you have a character.

This week in the Garden, Caitie and Soren combine their wit, creativity, and goblin energy to birth a spectacular fusion that only a couple of midwest-ttrpg-women could conceive. So grab some snacks, a bevvy, and get ready to welcome a new bud to the Rose Garden!

Editing TJ note: "This one is audio-only, this week. My computer literally could not handle the audacity of this one to render the video."

Don't you hate it when gate keepers hear you mention D&D, so they cross the entire room just to get in your bubble and say "OH, so you think you're a real D&D fan? Then name at least 12 fun facts about the history of it!"?? Well, it just so happens that this episode will teach you exactly that.

This week in the garden, Soren and Caitie take us back to where D&D began~ in the 1970's basements and garages of wargame enthusiasts, and trace it's history all the way up to now! So, Rosebuds, get ready for some stories, fun facts, and best of all; dramaaa.
