  • Cheap Talk

Ordained minister Dennis Hall and Pastor Jim Murphy, Christ Anglican Church, Cashiers, North Carolina discussed the implications of the phrase "Walk the Talk" on a T-shirt worn by a young man. They point out that according to the Pew report that 78.4% of Americans describe themselves as Christians but only about 20% of Americans go to church. It appears that we may be a nation that talks the talk but mostly does not walk the walk. How do we know if someone is a Christian are not? Can someone just announce that they are Christian? Or do the way we lead our lives have something to say about that? Talk is cheap and sometimes professing Christians show no evidence of genuine salvation. Is Christianity just some label we wear or a banner to wave to appease our conscience? In 1 John 2 the apostle John writes that if we know Jesus, we keep his commandments. And whoever says, "I know him" but do not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. These two pastors discuss what it means to totally surrender to the leadership of Jesus Christ and how to prioritize obedience. They stress the importance of fellowship with other genuine Christians. They acknowledge that we must be prepared to struggle with sin, repent, and ask forgiveness. God has made provision ongoing cleansing of the ongoing struggle with sin.

  • Fascists and Christians

When Pres. Biden labeled Trump supporters and the "Make America Great Again" movement as Semi-Fascist and a threat to our democracy, Dr. Dennis Hall felt obliged to respond. He begins by acknowledging that 97% of  conservative evangelical Christians who attend church regularly voted for Pres. Trump in the last presidential election. Who fascists are and the characteristics of their behavior is examined from a historical perspective and then Dr. Hall turns to the question of why conservative Christians voted for Pres. Trump. He mentions Trump's position on anti-abortion measures, his position on religious freedom, his position supporting law and order and the rule of law, his position securing the southern border to stop the human carnage that is occurring there, and his position on supporting the Constitution and appointing constitutionalist jurors to the supreme court . Dr. Hall concludes this podcast by pointing out that God-fearing Christians are facing serious cultural headwinds and appeals to the listeners to join a church where spiritual renewal each week can be possible. The spiritual war needs more dedicated Christian soldiers who are committed to never never never give up or compromise their faith in Christian truths found in Scripture.

  • Sneakers, Churches, and Preachers

Dennis Hall and his guest Justin Bohner, Assistant Pastor, First Baptist Church, Highlands, North Carolina discuss the biblical qualifications for serving as a pastor, pointing out that ministry is a calling as opposed to a professional career path. The perils of doing ministry as a professional career path are explored. Both agree that one can be well-dressed, well spoken, armed with degrees from prestigious universities and seminaries, possess leadership savvy, understand management theory, and marketing strategies and build large, exciting, growing churches and do it all without believing anything. Their view is that most pastors are dedicated, hard-working, modestly compensated men of faith. However, the public is seeing more and more pastors growing their wealth and thus concluding that the church is a moneymaking avenue. Preachers wearing expensive sneakers in the pulpit sends the wrong message. This phenomena has contributed to only 25% of the public having a very positive opinion about pastors. This podcast concludes with the admonition that attending church is not just important, it is essential and provide strategies for finding a Bible based church.

  • Trump Raid and Morality

Ordained Minister Dennis Hall uses the Trump raid to review other examples of governmental oppression. He is concerned about the tactics being used on fellow Americans in a land of freedom and a judicial system based on Judeo-Christian principles. He reminds listeners of the "golden rule"-treat others as you would want to be treated. That means that we will not put others in handcuffs and leg chains when it is not necessary and is only for intimidation or a political photo op. He quotes Romans 12:10 that reads, " love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Take the lead in honoring one another." The Apostle Paul is telling us to honor our political enemies! Our society is drifting toward evil and corruption. We have lost confidence in our institutions. Dr. Hall urges the listeners to resist the temptation to seek prosecution and revenge and to embrace the biblical principle of honoring our fellow citizens and neighbors.

  • What Happens When You Die

Ordained minister Dennis Hall and his guest Justin Bohner, Assistant Pastor, First Baptist Church Highland, North Carolina begin by discussing the Bible's confirmation that each of us has a soul this is separate from the mind and body. The mistaken idea that the soul rests after death in an unconscious state or even ceases to exist, until the final resurrection is part of this analysis using Scripture to assure believers that soul sleep is not supported by the Bible. Some ask if we will be able to recognize our loved ones in heaven? These ministers point to Scriptures that tell us that those in heaven can be recognized. They address the after-death concept of purgatory that some think believers must go for purification before entry into heaven. It is pointed out that there is nowhere in the Bible that purgatory is presented or discussed and is one of Satan's lies. They conclude by telling the listeners that our souls live forever in one of two places, either with your creator or eternally separated from Him. God welcomes all and sent his son Jesus Christ to provide a way for our eternal salvation.

  • Soul Train

Sixty percent of Americans believe that our soul will end up in heaven or hell after death. Very few understand what the soul is and how it interacts with a person's body and brain. Dr. Dennis Hall explains how  the mental states of sensation, thoughts, beliefs, desires and acts of will are guided by a person's soul. A man can become confused, ignorant, and misguided to the point that an individual is ready to do evil without thinking, all the result of a broken soul. He points out how the Holy Spirit can mend the soul and the efforts we can  make to facilitate the Holy Spirit in this work. Can also be seen on the YouTube link: https://yutu.be/SNF7-ep08si

  • False Teachers-Church Upheaval

Dennis Hall and his guest, Justin Bohner, Assistant Pastor, First Baptist Highlands look at the scope of Christianity in the U.S. and Jesus' expectation that the ties of Christians to one another should be stronger than ties to blood relatives. They discuss how apostasy, the falling away from the truth of God, can infiltrate churches. The origin of so many denominations and doctrinal differences are reviewed. They point out that much of the contemporary dissension in churches is the result of morality issues. The things you cannot deny and be a Christian are outlined, and pointed  out that these things are heresy and sometimes are denied in churches and seminaries. Listeners are encouraged to read the Bible and use it as the yardstick to evaluate churches and individual Christians.

  • Christian Nationalists-Biblical?

Dr. Dennis Hall examines the Christian Nationalist movement in America. The January 6 riot at the capitol is used to demonstrate the behavior of these individuals who wrapped themselves in Christian flags and carried Bibles as they stormed the chambers of the duly elected government officials. He uses Romans 13 to illustrate what the Bible has to say about this conduct and then addresses the question of when civil disobedience is justified for Christians. The dangers of the messianic pretense of Christian Nationalism are outlined. The importance of separation of church and state for our nation and for Christianity is part of this presentation. Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian values and principles, but our forefathers never intended America to be a Christion country.  The podcast ends with the warning that Christians have no business joining Chaotic political protests wrapped in Christian flags, carrying Bibles, that this is not the way of the Lord.
