One of the hallmarks of democracy in the American Republic has been the right to free speech, enumerated, of course, in the First Amendment.
It's so important to safeguard it, in fact, that when the city of Baltimore, working behind the scenes with the bishops, tried to cancel Church Militant's rally against the U.S. bishops' covering up sex abuse, we took them to court.
We won the right to hold the rally, in what's known as the preliminary injunction phase, and now we are engaged in the actual case. It is no exaggeration to say that Church Militant scored a tremendous victory (both on the trial level and in the U.S. Fourth Circuit, one step below the U.S. Supreme Court), a blow to those forces trying to squash not just freedom of speech, but free speech in the name of religious freedom.
The bill for that so far totals more than $800,000 in direct outlays. It put quite the dent in our budget. But some things are worth fighting for, as you hope the costs you have to absorb come out later in the wash.
And there is a great irony here in that Church Militant is fighting at great cost to preserve religious freedom of speech while the nation's bishops do next to nothing (more accurately, accomplish nothing) in this arena.
Case in point — a free-speech-killer law is sailing through the Michigan Legislature at this very moment. We've spoken about this a few times recently here at Church Militant since we are in Michigan and, therefore, more familiar than most with its deadly consequences for free speech.
But make no mistake, once it passes here, and it will because the Marxists control the entire government here, other deep blue states will be using it as a template in their locales. It's dressed up as "anti–hate speech" law, but not a single expert who has looked at this in depth has not seen very clearly what it is, an anti–free speech law.
The point is to get you to shut up out of fear of prison, fines and being sued. And yes, all that is part of the soon-to-be-enacted law — starting here in Michigan, but coming to a blue state near you soon. Which, getting back to the bishops, is very curious because, to date, the Michigan conference of Catholic bishops has remained completely silent on this.
You would think, at least in theory, Catholic leaders would be storming the barricades to protect freedom of speech, especially religious speech.
But no, nothing but crickets from the bishops' corner. I mean, it's not like a law is being pushed through to extend the statute of limitations on filing sex abuse cases by victims. When that was going on in multiple states, the bishops spent more time in court than their cathedrals.
The complicity of the bishops in promoting this kind of legislation through their silence is a furtherance of their part in the destruction of the American way of life. The law will take dead aim at politically conservative free speech, especially that of politically conservative Christians and Jews, as well as other religious groups who are often vocal about the demise of American morals and refuse to go along with the pronoun nonsense (as just one example).
The Marxists are the ones who engineered the demise of morality in the United States, to destabilize the family in order to weaken the Republic; and decades ago, they enlisted the help of key leaders in the Church, and the steamroll effect has been devastating.
We already know the bishops use the money of the faithful to undermine the Faith, but they also use the money of Americans to undermine America. They cannot challenge these atrocities of law because they feed at the trough of government largesse. In short, they are bought and paid for and wholly owned. So we have decided to take this fight to them — the political fight as well as the spiritual one.
As a reminder, on Thursday, July 20, the Deposit of Faith Coalition will sponsor, first, a prayer rally outside of the headquarters of the bishops' conference in Washington, D.C., at 11 a.m., which will go to 11:45.
Then, starting at 1 p.m., the coalition will be hosting a large press conference with politically conservative media outlets to explain to them how the bishops are using U.S. tax dollars to help destroy America by pushing the Democrats' agenda under the guise of "social justice."
We will have four expert speakers making presentations in each of the following areas where the bishops have been complicit in undermining America:
Church Militant will be livestreaming all of it beginning at 12:30 and wrapping up our coverage at 3 p.m. ET. All that information and further details are available by clicking on the provided link.
This is a first-ever kind of event in the Catholic world, a press conference highlighting all of this, with non-bishop-controlled media covering it. It's high time someone pushed back against all of it.
The bishops embraced Saul Alinsky way back, and it's been a nonstop love affair ever since for decades — and almost no one has told that story. Now we are seeing all over America the fulfillment of that wicked alliance as the nation crumbles under the weight of communism, with the bishops stepping on the gas under the guise of "charity."
This is a monumental effort on the part of us involved, and taking this on has a hefty price tag, as you can imagine. To help us financially with this much-needed endeavor and make a donation, please use the form below where you can make your tax-deductible gift to help choke off the bishops' money supply of your tax dollars.
There are three avenues where the bishops can be hit financially.
First, they can simply have their funding cut off by Congress, where various appropriations committees shovel hundred of millions of dollars to them each year. Second, the IRS code can be amended so that the bishops are required to file public tax returns known as 990s, just like every other religious nonprofits. Currently, they are exempt from that, so it is nearly impossible to track the mountains of tax dollars handed to them. That is wrong. Americans should be able to know exactly how and where their money is being spent, no matter who is getting it.
And third, their tax-exempt status can simply be revoked. They are deeply involved in politicking — for the Democrats. And that kind of blatant political engineering runs afoul of the entire spirit of the tax-exempt status.
If you are in that neck of the woods, please come to the prayer rally in front of the bishops' headquarters on Thursday, July 20, at 11 a.m. ET.
Spectators are also invited to attend the press conference at the National Press Club at 1. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
For those who cannot attend — again, you can watch the entire coverage, wall to wall, right here on Church Militant as we livestream this historic challenge to the U.S. bishops' destruction of the American Republic.
Please donate whatever you can to help us turn this thing around. Time to defund the U.S. bishops.

The topic of human sex-trafficking — especially involving children — just does not seem to register on the U.S. bishops' radar.
We could make a side comment there about them not really caring about children in most cases (abortion and sex abuse spring to mind) but we won't say anything further, other than to say that they have an abysmal record when it comes to protecting children.
So it's hard to muster even fake shock at the ever-present news that the bishops continue to create an environment wherein children can be exploited, trafficked by cartels and sexually exploited, all under the cover of "immigration."
This is one of the four major areas we will be covering at the Deposit of Faith Coalition press conference in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, July 20, at the National Press Club.
A reminder — Church Militant will be providing exclusive coverage and livestreaming of that event, beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET.
The Deposit of Faith Coalition is a group of about a dozen Catholic or Catholic-led outfits that are calling for the defunding of the U.S. bishops by Congress.
The bishops' communist staffers at USCCB headquarters in D.C. administer hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars awarded to them each year by congressional appropriations committees and then use that money, with the blessing of their bishop bosses, to promote the decline of America in multiple ways.
One of the most egregious betrayals is the promotion of illegal immigration and the "out of sight" horrors of child sex-trafficking that happens as a result.
The open-borders policy of the Democrats is one of many policy items the bishops are in complete lockstep with them on. And why wouldn't they be? They get hundreds of millions of dollars from D.C. and then spirit illegal immigrants all over the country.
Catholic Charities, for example, has the nickname, among Border Patrol agents and those involved in trying to stop this flood, of the "Illegal Immigrant Travel Company."
They not only help them get to the border, they are waiting right on the other side to get them into processing centers and then transport them all over the country, with the government not even knowing where millions of them are.
Among those they are flying and driving around are violent criminals, drug cartel operatives and children with fake IDs, who are being sent to total strangers posing as family members, strangers they have never met or seen before in their lives.
This is so outrageous that the bishops never respond to these charges and accusations because, frankly, what could you say?
That's why the coalition, of which Church Militant is proud to be a member, is highlighting this evil as one of four separate issues that the U.S. bishops must be held accountable for and lose their funding over.
It destabilizes the country, puts tens of thousands of children in harm's way and fattens the coffers of child sex-traffickers (which has the impact of encouraging them to traffic even more child victims). These children, along with many other illegals, are lost complete track of and left wide open to all kinds of abuse and violence.
Way too often, no one really knows who they are or where they are — and the majority of this wickedness is brought to you by the U.S. bishops under the guise of "social justice." Ask the exploited trafficked (and sometimes murdered) child if he feels he has been treated "justly."
We already know they use the money of the faithful to undermine the Faith, but they also use the money of Americans to undermine America. So we have decided to take this fight to them, the political fight as well as the spiritual one.

Ever since the sham investigation by the Vatican into Bp. Joseph Strickland a couple weeks back, we've been thinking there's much more at work here than just going after a bishop who posts Catholic truth on social media.
You've got to follow the bouncing ball here — but really, only just a little. The order came from the Congregation of Bishops in Rome to get to Tyler, Texas, and tell him politely to shut up. Stop going on about the Deposit of Faith and Catholic truth and all that stuff. Shut up, Joe.
But ask the question, How did Rome, the newly appointed head of the bishops' congregation in Rome, even know of Strickland?
Well, obviously somebody alerted him (read: the enemies of the Church here in the United States, inside the Church). For the record, that doesn't exactly narrow down the list of suspects, but what we can be certain of is that whoever made the initial reports, it would not have happened if the likes of Cupich or DiNardo or even the apostolic nuncio had not been called first.
Whoever reported it, one or more of these cowardly backstabbers in the USCCB agreed with it and said it would be good.
But ask a further question: These backstabbing bishops not only resent orthodoxy; they also resent America. "America last" is their cheer — as we highlighted in some recent Vortex episodes, that belief in socialism/communism as being superior to capitalism goes way back in the DNA timeline of the U.S. bishops.
It is almost impossible to stumble across a bishop who professes orthodoxy — like a Strickland — without also finding a political conservative at the same time. So if the loser-bishop gang could take out Strickland, or quietly arrange for it behind the scenes, they could actually kill two birds with one stone, a faithful and patriotic Catholic American.
The backstabbing bishop crowd can crow on about their Marxist political crap whenever they want, but a faithful bishop cannot be allowed to talk about conservative "America first" policies under any circumstances.
So for a double reason, Strickland had to go. They haven't made it official yet, but they will. The Marxists in the Church are always working behind the scenes to get what they want. So this raised the further question of switching focus from the bishops' lack of supernatural faith to their constant pushing and promoting of the Democratic Party agenda (read: communism), all dressed up as religious, of course, but communism nonetheless.
So a number of us got talking and decided to form what we call the "Deposit of Faith Coalition," a group of more than a dozen Catholic or largely Catholic-led outfits sick of the bishops' use of U.S. tax money to undermine the nation.
They use the money of the faithful to undermine the Faith, but they also use the money of Americans to undermine America. So we have decided to take this fight to them — the political fight as well as the spiritual one.

We will have four expert speakers making presentations in each of the following areas where the bishops have been complicit in undermining America: (1) the illegal immigration issue, (2) the climate change issue, (3) the gun control issue and (4) the religious censorship and anti-free speech issue.
The assembled media will be free, obviously, to ask questions of the experts at the end of each session, and then scrum with the speakers afterward. This will finally begin to shine a spotlight on the political corruption of the U.S. hierarchy outside the Catholic bubble (which is actually controlled by them). This will be the kickoff event, in a major way, right in their own backyard, but it will not be the last.
Church Militant will be livestreaming all of it beginning at 12:30 and wrapping up our coverage at 3 p.m., ET. All that information and further details are available by clicking on the provided link.

Despite a spate of recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings appearing to scale back their massive cultural gains, the Marxist force remains aggressively committed to the destruction of this country as we know it.
For years now, Church Militant has been warning of the U.S. bishops' complicity in all of this, even going as far back as the involvement of Saul Alinksy with the bishops.
Almost 14 years ago — yes, 14 years ago — Church Militant produced our very first investigation, and it was on this very topic, the complicity of the U.S. bishops in advancing the Marxist agenda along a broad political front.
This topic is coming around again, and we offer this for you, for your knowledge.
TRANSCRIPT
One ingredient related to the Church's leadership, especially in America, that is common to the collapse of both the Church as well as the nation is the current of Marxism so prevalent within the U.S. hierarchy. When Stalin came to power in 1922, he took direct aim at the Catholic Church and set about an immediate campaign to destabilize Her.
While it all does seem to smack of conspiracy theory-type stuff, remember that many of the so-called conspiracy theories over the past few years have proven to be much more than a theory. The same is true here. But since so much of this is "inside Catholic baseball," it has gone largely unnoticed by most conservative secular media.
While it is true that some of this has played out as what appears to be strictly Catholic civil wars, there is another dynamic much less obvious, which is no less present than the theological battles. The culture wars in the United States, it could be argued, really began first inside the Catholic Church, as Marxist notions and applications of socialism began to take root alongside theological errors.
One need look no further than the evil of Liberation Theology in South America, imported from the Kremlin to shake the dominant Catholic influence throughout the entire continent. The same sort of thing happened in the United States as a direct result of Marxist philosophy being embraced by key players throughout the U.S. Church from the 1930s to the 1950s.
That generation set the stage for what would become, in the Catholic Church in America, a broad-based movement and coalition of like-minded fellow travelers intent on not just destabilizing the Church but also the country. It was the incubator in which the likes of Joe Biden, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Patrick Leahy and Dick Durbin would be produced.
Likewise, the nation's Catholic universities, like their secular counterparts, were also invaded and overtaken by Marxist ideology. This Marxist takeover happened in many smaller, almost unknown or little-remembered skirmishes.
Barack Obama, for example, long before he became the community organizer in chief, learned those skills in the same incubator that his future Capitol Hill Catholic allies were nurtured in. Saul Alinksy partnered up with the Catholic Church in Chicago in the 1930s and 1940s and began the entire campaign of so-called community organizing.
It was under the auspices of Catholic training in "social justice" seminars, begun by Alinsky, that Barack Obama got his training — even having the Chicago archdiocese foot the bill for it.
The entire Marxist invasion of the U.S. Church was done under the phony guise of social justice. And from its inception in 1969, it fit neatly in line with the agenda of the Democratic Party, which made the same appeal politically about justice that corrupt Catholic leaders were making theologically.
Couple these new efforts by U.S. bishops with the historic alliance between Catholic immigrants and Democrats, and a powerful machine was created to change the course of a nation, with Church leaders baptizing the Democratic agenda and Democratic leaders, many of whom were Catholic, brandishing the blessing of the Church to advance their plans.
It was a tapestry, and still is, of historic cooperation between Church and State in a nation that seems to never tire of pointing at the infamous wall separating Church and State. But in this case, it was only part of the state, the party of the Democrats, whose agenda has been almost entirely embraced by the U.S. hierarchy.
It was only the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973 that threw a monkey wrench into the works. And of course, the Marxist bishops denounced abortion here and there to appease conservative Catholics, but they never did anything substantial to fight it.
Not only did they refuse to follow the Church's canon law 915 and deny Holy Communion to pro-abort Catholic politicians, but they also have, to this day, never once in hundreds and hundreds of national collections, ever taken up one pro-life collection. The U.S. Church establishment is in a neck-and-neck race with the Republican Party establishment to see who can talk the biggest game about abortion but never actually do anything about it.
And moreover, for another example, it was the bishops' national conference that came out publicly swinging for the fences in favor of Obamacare. It was Catholic Sen. Susan Collins, another product of the incubator, who voted the legislation out of committee and got it to the Senate floor for a final vote. It was her single vote that ensured Obamacare became law. Obamacare should really be called "BishopCare."
Obama proposed it, but the bishops, alongside their theologically corrupt politician sheep, are the ones who brought it to birth. The America we are witnessing before us today has the fingerprints of three generations of bishops and corrupt clergy all over it. It is the biggest story not told in modern American history.
Today's Vortex is last night's Membership Monday. Church Militant wishes all its American viewers a happy Independence Day!

Last week, Knoxville Bp. Richard Stika announced his retirement after a lengthy Vatican investigation and extensive news coverage over his alleged cover-up of a rape. Leading the charge in that news coverage was Church Militant, as insiders were providing us much information on his alleged cover-up of a rape.
While The Pillar was first to break the story, for which they deserve credit, Church Militant was the only one to air a video documentary and the only one to expose the texts exchanged between the perpetrator and the victim — a smoking gun that exposed the bishop as profusely lying and made the perpetrator's involvement undeniable.
Our Church Militant Spotlight investigation was described as an "earthquake" in the diocese of Knoxville, and was soon followed not only by the Vatican investigation but also by local newspapers finally covering the story (after remaining deafeningly silent for months).
We forced their hand as well as the Vatican. In a despicable move, Stika actually flipped the story and said the victim was the aggressor, a position that once again, too many Catholics were willing to accept solely because the bishop said it and he's a bishop.
Some people never learn, because accepting the facts destabilizes their world. Tribe or truth, as they say — and that happens all over the Church, including in "rad trad" circles too, who are now being massively embarrassed in story after story where they chose the wrong side simply because of the Latin Mass.
Their narrow worldview cannot accept that TLM priests and bishops can also be scoundrels. And for those in the trad media, your credibility is beyond shot.
Church Militant has been correct in every single case we have reported on regarding the evil present among some in the trad community, just as we're right in the Stika case. Again, for too many, they choose tribe over truth, an anti-Catholic position if there ever was one. More on all that in a later Vortex.
But back to Stika: We are now going to play for you Part I of our investigation, which helped result in his no longer being the bishop in Knoxville. Part II will be linked down below.

With the nation collapsing to what seems like the point of no return, and the Church as well like a dumpster fire, it is often hard to know what to do and how to respond. Well, we have some good news on this front.
First, just to get right to it, a very generous donor has contributed enough money in support of our annual Church Militant Strength and Honor Conference to help one person who applies with the conference fees as well as up to $1,000 in travel costs.
Additionally, she has contributed more to pay the conference registration fee for 17 additional men. Notice we said "she" — a very generous lady who understands the importance of men coming together and taking the lead in navigating these very turbulent waters.
All you have to do to apply is simply email [email protected]. Then our team will be back in touch promptly with what you need to do.
The dates of the annual Strength and Honor Conference are Aug. 4–6, the first weekend in August as we normally do. And, of course, it's here in Detroit.
This is the first time we are offering scholarships for some men who would otherwise attend but are hamstrung somewhat by Biden's economy. So for some of you, there are no excuses: You have a very generous lady paying your way.
Your emails have to be received by July 5, and recipients of the scholarship will be chosen at the discretion of Church Militant.
For all other men, please click on the provided link and sign up.
It's important spiritually and psychologically while you're under attack to know there are many allies you have — and, for quite a few guys, they tell us they feel pretty much alone in battle. A kind of emotional or spiritual PTSD can seem to set in, a weariness from the constant sense of having no brothers in arms.
It's certainly not the point of the conference, but it is a very welcome side effect to realize that, as a man, you are not alone. So during much of the downtime, relationships are being forged and some renewed.
Yeah, war stories get shared (which is a good thing). That spiritual "band of brothers" intangible sets in, and, as many attendees from the past Strength and Honors have told us, that's invaluable. The Left, with its total dominance of all forms of media (news, entertainment, sports), is very good at making sure none of their crew ever feel isolated or abandoned.
Signs of their solidarity are omnipresent, to the point of suffocating, which is why events like this one Church Militant hosts each year, as well as our Retreats at Sea, are so helpful to so many.
We are emotional beings; we aren't robots, and it doesn't take much by way of feeling isolated to start to mess with some folks' heads. So come to Detroit that first weekend in August and break whatever isolation you may feel and band with other like-minded men. This holds for your sons as well, dads.
Remember those teenage years and early adult years which were, for quite a few of us, massively awkward and dominated by the sense that the last thing you could do was stand out from the pack. Young men today, maybe more than ever, are now tempted by the collapsing culture to abandon everything they might know and throw in the towel.
That's why we are also having a "young guns" panel as part of this year's Strength and Honor. None of us can assume that our sons or nephews or grandsons are immune from the cultural rot just because they were taught the Faith — and for the record, most of them were not.
So here is a chance to engage them intellectually, where most males live (or at least should live, despite the culture dumping on them and trying to turn them into beta males).
This year's Strength and Honor is aimed at men across the age spectrum, from teenagers to granddads, because, no matter our ages, the Faith needs reinforcement, especially in light of the chaos so prevalent today.
So please click on the link and register: We're just barely a month away, and again, if you need financial assistance, just email [email protected] and tap into the wonderful donor's generosity, specifically contributed to encourage you to attend.
Obviously, we know who the donor is and allow us to simply say to "M," thank you.
God love you, and we'll see you here in Detroit in just about a month.
