When the great recession occurred in the United States 10 years ago, large banks and corporations got bailed out by the federal government because it was said of them, "They were too big to fail." We see something of that mentality now in the ongoing saga unfolding in the FBI, as regards what is becoming more and more and more clear was an effort to both cover up for Hillary's crimes while at the same time torpedo Trump's campaign.
Emerging evidence now strongly suggests that very high-ranking, anti-Trump personnel at the FBI and the Department of Justice got together and invented the Russia-Trump collusion story as an "insurance policy" just in case Trump won. That quote, by the way, is from one of the inner circle FBI top brass that pulled out every stop to make sure Trump did not win, and if he won, his presidency would be undermined from day one. Having done everything they could do, including apparently spy on him and his campaign, using Democratic and Hillary opposition research as a ploy to get court approval to wiretap him without revealing to the court that it was bought and paid for Democratic Party "research," they then had to create a narrative that if he somehow won, they could immediately launch a smear campaign, implying the election was rigged, phony, manipulated by Russia — illegitimate.
This was done because the belief among the ruling liberal elites was and is their worldview is simply too big to fail. It must be preserved at all costs, even cheating, lying, cover-up, criminal activity. Nothing was too out of bounds to preserve the liberal status quo.
You might begin to see where we are going with this vis-a-vis the Church. There is a worldview among theological liberals, just as there is among political and cultural liberals, that their worldview is correct, is too big to fail and nothing can be allowed to happen which threatens that worldview. Political and cultural liberals are called Democrats with some Republicans In Name Only included.
Theological liberals are called Modernists. Collectively they all comprise what we call the Left. But whether Democrats or Modernists, they all feed from the same trough. They have the same political cultural views and push them aggressively in their respective arenas. And just as in the political world, no lie or disinformation campaign is a bridge too far to conquer the hearts and minds of men. So too in the theological realm, any tactic is acceptable to the modernist cleric to make sure his worldview is advanced and the status quo maintained. This is why solid, orthodox priests are threatened and bullied. This is why if anyone objects to the regular abuses at Masses all over the country or to the horrible Protestant-inspired catechesis or evangelization programs being adopted everywhere by modernist bishops, those people are sidelined, marginalized, practically demonized and discredited as being "divisive" or troublemakers.
The "worldview" in the Church among its liberal elite rulers and cheerleaders is that the Catholic Church needs to abandon its tradition in every area — morality, liturgy, theology and sign on to a more man-centered approach. This, of course, precludes preaching the hard truths and necessitates the destruction of those who stand in the sanctuary and point to the fact that the emperor or bishop has no clothes. This view of a man-centered religion has held sway in the Church for nearly 50 years now and has resulted in the spiritual destruction of hundreds of millions of souls, even those in your own families as you already know.
There has been a desertion of the Faith which has absolutely no precedent in 2,000 years. And just as liberal politics leads to the destruction of economies, nations and civilizations, so too liberal theology leads to the destruction of faith. Yet, the modernists push forward, claiming that the problem in the Church is that liberal so-called reforms have not been implemented enough. All the Church needs according to the likes of various cardinals, bishops and priests is for same-sex marriages to be blessed, to tone down the cultural war language, to ordain women, to downplay or ignore contraception and abortion, to make Mass more happy-clappy and welcoming, to give Holy Communion to those in mortal sin and be less judgmental, to focus on immigration and climate change, to play up the gifts and qualities of homosexuals, especially in the priesthood.
Just like their political counterparts who cling to the idiotic notion that the way you improve an economy is keep raising taxes, these religious leaders believe the way to improve the Church is to keep destroying tradition. Political types are able to refashion a nation to its demise. But while modernists have done much to refashion Catholics' self-view and understanding, they can never reshape the actual Church because that they do not control. She belongs to Our Blessed Lord, and Our Blessed Lord has called each one of us into existence at this precise moment in time to resist these workers of evil in the Church. Many of the leaders are simply wicked. Others are delusional, having been hoodwinked since their seminary days into swallowing this anti-Catholic Catholicism.
It's all based on their view that the Church has been wrong for 2,000 years and now has to get up to date. And they will stop at nothing — nothing — to ensure that tradition is ultimately stamped out, just as their political counterparts feeding at the same trough will stop at nothing to discredit Trump because he is an anathema to their worldview.
It's all part of one large giant mindset dominating both the theological and the political worlds. It must be exposed and opposed, just as political conservatives have started doing as revelations come to light about the crimes and cover-ups of the elites in their circles. Remember, the uproar and furor and feigned shock when Trump tweeted that Obama had wiretapped him. Turns out — looks like — he was right. Political and theological elites will stop at nothing because they believe their worldview is too big to fail.

One thing that will be great, once next Tuesday has passed, is all the sucking up to Protestants by wimpy, confrontation-avoidance Catholic leaders will come to an end — at least as far as constant headlines and public letters and announcements. For their part, scores of Catholic leaders — read bishops — are planning "Reformation celebrations" and commemorations, starting this Sunday through next Tuesday — the 500th anniversary of the rending of Christianity by traitorous and heretical priest Martin Luther. But what we haven't heard a lot of in the Catholic world is the Protestant view of all this.
Well, in an email to supporters from the Family Research Council, an offshoot of James Dobson's Focus on the Family, Dr. Kenyn Cureton, vice president for Church Ministries, said the following:
Why take the time to address the Protestant Reformation? Because the Gospel was recovered from superstition and error. The core beliefs of Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Solus Christus and Soli Deo Gloria were recovered and placed before the people biblically, replacing works-based religion, hawking of relics, selling of indulgences to advance from purgatory, praying to saints instead of to God and no access to God's word in our own language. This spiritual shift literally changed the world. Today, we need to guard the Gospel faith, "once delivered to the Saints" (Jude 1:3) and recovered by the reformers 500 years ago.
See, while Catholic leaders are off busy offering incense at the altar of false ecumenism, the Protestants are still talking the talk, calling Catholic beliefs "superstition and error," lying about what the so-called core beliefs are, misrepresenting Catholic teachings about saints and justification.
At least, they were honest about one thing. Luther and his heresy did change the world — for the worse, depriving, now 500 years later, billions of souls from the truth of Christ. Yet, here we are still listening to Catholic leaders babble on about ecumenism and "working with" our "separated brothers and sisters" to bring about a change in the culture. Well, whatever political change may or may not take place will mean nothing if religious truth continues to be denied.
Protestant leaders have no desire to accept Catholic truth, even though they may for a time accept cooperation with Catholics to bring about political change. But make no mistake, that political change will never go so far as to overturn the foundational evils inherent in Protestantism that have brought Western civilization to the brink of annihilation.
Protestantism is a heresy. It denies essential truths about Christ the Lord — His Church, authority, truth, philosophy and so forth. It pretends the final authority in the Church is the Bible, which is a complete and total lie. How could the Bible be the repository of final and sole truth when it didn't even exist in its present form for the first 400 years of Christianity? And even once it was compiled in its present form, almost no Christian could read it for the first 1,500 years of its existence because almost no one was literate until about a century ago.
Protestantism is a giant theological lie, which depending on what flavor you subscribe to allows abortion, same-sex marriage, adultery, divorce, contraception or some combination of all the above. And those are some errors just in the moral sphere. The theological errors are even more mind-numbing. Yet, here we have a nonstop parade of Catholic bishops and clergy, beating a path to the kiss-up line to appear all ecumenical and cool and so forth. These hypocritical self-serving leaders must lay aside Catholic truth in order to get in that line. They completely sacrifice Catholic identity to do so. They open up their cathedrals for illicit invalid ordinations by pretend bishops. They blather on non-stop about the need to emphasize what we have in common and ignore the very matters of damnation that are the differences between Catholics and Protestantism.
Ask yourself why is it that Protestant leaders are never holding conferences and conventions to look at Catholic teachings and reexamine their 500-year-old revolt in light of current circumstances. Trying to ignite some kind of unity is fine and laudable but not at the price of truth.
Before Martin Luther, the Christian world had a direct, unbroken line back to the apostles themselves. Then along came Luther with his Judas-like treason and, now, half the so-called Christian world has no access to that line. All they have are the personal interpretations of whoever their own pastor or self -serving preacher happens to be.
And none of those pastors will tell them the Truth of the Catholic Church. They are content to let their people remain ignorant and drowning in their lies and ignorance. Too bad we don't have many leaders as zealous for the truth as Protestantism has leaders zealous for lies.
Happy Revolution Sunday — what a miserable day indeed.

The much respected and much followed conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro, speaking before a crowd of college students said, "The first fundamental basis of Western civilization is the idea that we — each of us and every one of us — is made in the image of God." What a perfectly good observation. That's what clear thinking will always render — truth. But for all its clarity and truth, Shapiro needs to finish the thought.
The basis of Western civilization is absolutely that we are made in the image of God. But — big but here — the reason for the collapse of Western civilization is contraception, something Shapiro does not agree to. To say, on the one hand, that man is made in the image of God, which is true, but then to invest man with the authority to reject the very nature of that image we are made — in relation to namely the power to create — is to present a conundrum. This is why authentic Catholic thinking needs to be introduced into these political, societal, cultural discussions.
They will always miss the mark, by however little, because they suffer from being taken to their logical conclusion. The initial logic is there, sometimes expressed boldly, call it a logical intuition, that intuition can be gleaned from observing the world and how it works. It can be seen by observing natural law. As St. Paul observed, even the pagans got it right on the fundamental level but what the pagans, including today's pagans, did not and do not have is revelation — divine revelation.
Contraception is evil, inherently evil, and as such, like all inherent evils — intrinsic evils — it has devastating consequences in this life and the next. But if we step back and observe the damage contraception has caused just on the natural level, all clear thinking lovers of truth could agree that the social, economic and moral consequences of the widespread acceptance and use of contraception have rocked Western civilization and not just rocked it but brought about its end.
Practically every problem facing the West can be traced right back to birth control:
Consider that the reason we are even talking about the collapse of Western civilization is owed almost solely to the wrongheaded, yet almost unanimously accepted notion, that "At the heart of liberty is the right to define one's own concept of existence," which is a direct consequence of a contraceptive mentality, as proved by the fact that that quote is from Justice Anthony Kennedy in the infamous 1992 Casey v. Planned Parenthood case that upheld a constitutional right to abortion.
Contraception establishes in the mind that the power given to us by God to create — part of the notion of being made in His image — is a power we get to have complete autonomy over. Mind you, this is a power even the angels do not possess, yet man has been given it and then freely abuses it. There is much that can be said here theologically on the supernatural level. But let's just consider the devastating consequences in the natural order and then admit that this is the single most contributor to the collapse of Western civilization.
It was Catholic teaching that spread the idea — enshrined it in law and raised up Western civilization — that man is made in the image and likeness of God. It was the Catholic Church that created Western civilization, and it is the Catholic Church now saying that the acceptance of the sin of contraception is responsible for its collapse.
Finish the thought. For the love of God, finish the thought.

Last week, one of the most notorious figures of 20th century Catholicism died and went before God for his judgment. Gregory Baum, the German-born, until recently closeted, homosexual priest who helped spark rebellion against the Church's moral teachings regarding sexuality died after a fall in his home. He was 94. Baum came to prominence as a consultor at Vatican II, and it was during Vatican II and his role there that he had his first homosexual encounter. According to his own words in his autobiography, The Oil Has Not Run Dry, Baum says,
I was 40 years old (1963) when I had my first sexual encounter with a man. I met him in a restaurant in London. This was exciting and at the same time disappointing, for I knew what love was and what I really wanted was to share my life with a partner.
Baum's frustration at being a homosexual who wanted to act on it and be in a same-sex relationship, no doubt, boiled over in his opposition to the Catholic Church's teachings regarding sexuality. His reputation really took off when he helped orchestrate the revolution against Pope Paul VI's 1968 encyclical Humanae Vitae, restating the Church's perennial teaching condemning birth control.
Baum — fueled by his homosexual rage — was instrumental in fashioning the Canadian bishops' dissident response known as the Winnipeg Statement. Monsignor Vincent Foy, who earlier this year also went to God, attributed the force and success of the Winnipeg Statement to Baum's behind the scenes machinations, during the infamous bishops' conference. He even said at one point that no one had done more to damage the Church in Canada than Gregory Baum. From there on out, Baum became a hero for modernists in the Church, trumpeting every liberal cause one could imagine.
Baum was the toast of the treasonous crowd, who promoted and celebrated him every chance they could, every venue they could. This includes homosexualist Fr. Thomas Rosica, who uses his little-viewed Canadian TV operation Salt and Light to keep alive the flames of dissent. Five years ago, Rosica had Baum on his TV show Witness where he fawned all over Baum to the point of embarrassment, referring to Baum as his hero and lauding him for his love of the Church, of the Eucharist, of Christ, of keeping alive the so-called "spirit of Vatican II." He should get some kind of medal for being able to say all that with a straight face — no pun intended.
Rosica, who probably knew about Baum's gay "secret," did not reveal to his audience that Baum had been living a double life for decades — married to a former nun who gave her seal of approval to his homosexual life with a former priest, whose name was Normand he met in Montreal in 1987. Conspirators keep each other's secrets so as to maintain the facade of respectability and to lend some kind of authority to their dissident opinions.
Interestingly and honestly, Baum came right out with it in his autobiography as to why he kept his homosexual motivations, urgings and longings secret:
I did not profess my own homosexuality in public because such an act of honesty would have reduced my influence as a critical theologian. I was eager to be heard as a theologian, trusting in God as "salvator mundi" (Savior of the world) and committed to social justice, liberation theology and global solidarity.
Baum was a key player at Vatican II, a key player in the formation of the Winnipeg Statement and maintained his influence as "theologian" for decades before eventually being excommunicated. This is why these frustrated gay men, hiding in the clergy need to be ferreted out — and make no mistake that they are everywhere and hold great sway. They destroy souls, sometimes one at a time, other times en masse. But however they are able to execute their evil, psychologically distorted designs, they are all about destruction — of that you can be certain.
Baum is living proof and a template of the homosexual cleric. It's why it's important to know if men like homosexualists Fr. James Martin and Fr. Thomas Rosica, as well as various pro-gay members of the hierarchy, are gay themselves.
This simply cannot be allowed to persist in the Church. Gay men are not psychologically fit to be priests. They have too much rage within them. They spend their time trying to subvert the Church's teachings so as to create a state of chaos — an environment whereby the authority of the Church can be called into question. They seek to destabilize everything in an effort to "get to" the Church's teaching on homosexuality, and they will destroy everything in their path to get to that teaching.
Think about it: Here was a gay priest who was having sex with other gay men while he was working at Vatican II. Then, when he saw the opportunity to blow up the Church in the area of contraception, he went full steam ahead. Ask yourself, why? Why would a raging, frustrated, sexually active homosexual priest be so concerned with the issue of contraception? Because it's important as a first step that non-procreative sex be accepted by the masses. After that, the acceptance of homosexual sex is no big deal. This is why all the homosexualists in the Church never say anything about contraception. Acceptance of non-procreative sex is the first step to accepting homosexual sexual activity.
Well, now he's dead, and it's too late to change anything that he had committed himself to in this life. Just as it is too late for Hugh Hefner to change anything. Baum and Hefner were very much related to each other — Hefner in advancing the sexual revolution and Baum in making sure that the Church just rolled over in the face of it. And now for each of them, it is too late to reverse their evil actions. But for those homosexualist clergy who are still breathing, there is still time.
Pray for them but also resist them mightily, for they are all Gregory Baums, seeking to sow chaos, willing to sacrifice the Truth, as well as your souls in their homosexual rage.

Just before we begin today, I'd like to say happy birthday to my father Russ Voris. He turns 88 today — born in 1929. His first day on earth (outside the womb) was actually the first day of the great Stock Market Crash, which lingered on for a few days and brought about the Great Depression. My dad has seen an awful lot in his 88 years. And he's recovering nicely at home from his heart attack this past summer. Steady as she goes. So thank you for all your well wishes and prayers for him.
And speaking of history, many people don't know that the chaos that has gripped so many parts of the Church actually started right here in the archdiocese of Detroit. This archdiocese was not the only place but it was one of the most prominent places in the Church, certainly in the United States, where the great meltdown of the Church and Catholic identity began.
Like everything in history, there is always one or more people behind every monumental event whether the event is good or bad. In this case, the face behind all of this was Cdl. John Dearden — much beloved by all the modernist clergy and liberal social justice Catholics that swamped the Church, beginning in the 1960's and haven't really stopped since. If there was one man who was the point man for planting the seeds which have brought the current chaos in the Church, this is your man.
Dearden was archbishop of Detroit from 1958 until 1980. During the span of his almost quarter of a century rule, Catholicism in America would undergo a fundamental change from which it would never recover; it would transform from the Catholic Church in America to the American Catholic Church. Catholic identity would be traded away for a more worldly identification, where the patrimony of previous generations would be squandered on a new vision of "Church."
Dearden was a leading man in the U.S. hierarchy, a giant of influence whom fellow prelates knew you should never cross. He had even earned the nickname "Iron John," more for his personality than his adherence to tradition. The New York Times singled him out as "a favorite" of liberals in the Church at the council. On his return from Vatican II in 1965, he saw an opportunity, as did many who shared his ecclesiastical "philosophy," to fundamentally alter the way the Church did business and, most importantly, understood itself.
During his tenure and those of his supporting cast of prelates, the groundwork was laid for the greatest collapse of the Church, dating back to the French Revolution, if not longer. The secular media, including TIME magazine, hailed him as one of the leading liberals and progressives in the American Church and praised him for his "innovative approach to the new liturgy and teachings."
So notable was Dearden for his ecclesiastical rambunctiousness that the theologically orthodox publication The Wanderer labeled him "a major heretic; one of the worst the Catholic Church has ever suffered from." Fresh back from the council, Dearden wasted no time in implementing his vision in Detroit of what he thought the Church in America should look like.
Altars were turned around, and Mass offered facing the people. Communion railings were ripped out. Holy Communion was distributed in the hand even before official sanction or the indult had been granted by Rome in 1978. Seminary instruction and formation took on a "modernist" approach, as psychology was elevated to an almost equal status to theology.
While Dearden was busy constructing (and demolishing) his all-new archdiocese, he was also ensuring that his vision would go "national." Detroit would be the first franchise, a blueprint for how to remake the Church in America. To accomplish this, with his feet barely on the ground from his return trip from the momentous council in Rome, he immediately lobbied for and helped bring into existence the United States' first national bishops' conference, the instrument for bringing to reality such a radical vision of the Church. So in 1966, Dearden became the man for establishing the National Conference of Catholic Bishops (NCCB) as it used to be known.
It changed its name in 2001 to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). He served as the first president of the conference from 1966–71, during which time under his leadership and heavy-handed influence, the hierarchy took a decided shift to the political Left, with its policy arm, the United States Catholic Conference, also brought into being by Dearden.
During his time as NCCB president, Latin was scrapped for English in the Eucharistic Prayer at Mass, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (laity) were authorized throughout the United States. One of the most significant evolutions under Dearden on the national level has been largely overlooked. During his time as NCCB president, Dearden worked closely with the management-consultant firm Booz Allen Hamilton, a firm that had made its name by restructuring the management of Detroit's auto industry here in Detroit.
The firm worked closely with Dearden to design the organization, policies, procedures and protocols of the fledgling NCCB. The result was that the bureaucracy of the NCCB increased significantly in influence and control, resulting in far less authority (or perceived authority) on the part of local bishops. And while this new reality would prove irritable for some, it was to prove enormously helpful for those seeking to institute a new understanding of "Church."
In 1969, while the conference was still new and its members finding their footing, Dearden brought into the leadership fold an as-yet relatively unknown bishop, Joseph Bernardin, as the conference secretary, the man who would oversee the day-to-day operations. He would prove to be the main catalyst in the completion of the undoing of Catholicism in America.
Church Militant is standing at ground zero for what happened to the Church 50 years ago. And this is why it's important to know history. Want to know where the madness began — look right here to Motown.

There is much to be resisted in the Church these days. As painful and dreadful as that fact may be, it's the truth. Our normal instincts as Catholics is to see the clergy as holy or at least more dedicated to holiness than the laity, striving to bring us stubborn laity along, we who are more concerned with the world, like dragging a donkey that doesn't want to move.
In the past few decades, however, this paradigm seems to have reversed. There are now so many instances of clergy utterly unconcerned with their personal holiness or the holiness of souls entrusted to them, it's hard to believe — yet it's true. This is not to say, of course, that there are not good, holy priests. There are many, just as not all bishops are weak or bad or wicked or ambitious. But the good men, meaning those who are deeply in love with the Son of God and who are willing to lay it all down for Him, are proving to be the exceptions. Despite the presence of these good men, the system itself, the clerical system, is corrupt in that it prevents the proliferation of these good men, and it's largely successful in ensuring they never gain solid footing from which to initiate much-needed reform.
Too many leaders, meaning mostly bishops, don't get it. For whatever reason, they are blind to the reality that the system by which they came to power is broken. They look for men like themselves and promote these men from within that crowd who tend to be like them — tepid and frightened to say or do anything that will draw the ire of the world.
Much seminary training and formation these days places an emphasis on "meeting people where they are" and having an "encounter" with them so that they have "an experience of God." This is the sort of vocabulary that has reached a level of celebration by various bishops and other leaders in the Establishment Church these days. It was first trotted out at the Extraordinary Synod on the Family in October 2014 and has continued to gain prominence ever since.
Whether it's a deception or honest misdiagnosis, the prevailing thought among senior clergy in the West is that the Church's teachings are too harsh, and they need to be made more palatable to the unbeliever. As a result, nothing of serious consequence can be addressed, meaning issues directly related to our eternal salvation. It's an approach reminiscent of the American Protestant revivalist preachers from the late 18th and early 20th centuries: "First, get 'em in the Church, then preach 'em the Gospel." Judging from the falling numbers in Protestantism as well, it's an approach that will ultimately fail.
Yet, inexplicably, Catholic leaders — in the United States predominantly but other locales in the West as well — have chosen to adopt this strategy, a proven losing strategy of avoiding serious points of the spiritual life and dressing up their avoidance in misleading terms like "pastoral." The effect of all this has been that instead of the Church converting the world, the conversion is flowing in the other direction. More than 30 million Catholics in the United States alone have abandoned the Faith and have converted to the world.
Yet, leaders have adopted the position that they must continue to convince everyone that, while there are struggles, things in the Church are vibrant and in the process of restoration by the actions of the Holy Spirit — even in the face of a never-before-witnessed disintegration of the Faith. "Prudence" and "tolerance" are the watchwords from clericalists who can use lofty terms like those to hide cowardice and ambition and strike out at Catholics who call their bluff and point to the emperor who is parading around naked. The American hierarchy as a whole has become decidedly American — politically correct, nonjudgmental accommodationists who will tolerate anything except criticism of their tolerating everything. Growing numbers of committed Catholics are coming to these realizations, just as we did, here, at Church Militant.
This apostolate did not begin on this note. We had no idea 12 years ago that things were this bad. But like many others before and since, we came to learn the horrible truth. So, we set out on a two-pronged strategy to convince people of the dire need for them to wake up and provide encouragement in moving toward a solution. This is one of the major topics in our newest book Resistance: Fighting the Devil Within. This is a natural follow-up to our first book Militant: Resurrecting Authentic Catholicism. We sold thousands of copies of Militant and many people wanted to know more — to understand the chaos present in the Church and what they could do about it. This is that book. Resistance is recommended reading if you want to be informed about what has happened to the Church in America.
A big part of evangelization today among Catholics is helping them to unlearn all the horrible stuff they've been taught and for that, you need to be able to logically and coherently explain what happened. That's what Resistance does. We lay it out for you, so you can lay it out for them. And moreover, the goal of talking to people is not just to get them to intellectually accept various arguments but ultimately to get them to become holy. That's the focus of Part Two of the book. Part One lays out the problem with all its history and so forth. Part Two lays out the solution, personally and collectively, which is what the solution has always been which is personal holiness. The solution for this madness is what it's been since the beginning — we each have to fight to become saints. This is why we wrote Resistance — to help you help save souls.
So please order your copy, today, by clicking on the link. We've priced it especially for Christmas so you might also consider buying it as gifts for loved ones or friends, who you think it will help. The history of how we got where we are is eye-popping, and it is a history very few know. Again, please just click on the link to place your order now.

Amidst declining revenues and staggering losses of numbers of Catholics sitting in the pews, one particular cause gets almost no attention from Church leaders — contraception, birth control. Not so long ago in America, the size of Catholic families was a source of humor in the majority Protestant nation. Before 1930, however, Catholics and all the thousands of Protestant denominations all regarded contraception as sinful — because it is.
For almost 2,000 years of Christian history, contraception had never been approved of up until the Anglicans did at their infamous 1930 Lambeth Conference. Contraception was in fact considered a grave evil. But between 1930 and roughly 1968, almost every Protestant congregation caved on the question and as a result, the Catholic Church was essentially the last man standing, repeating again in 1968 by Blessed Pope Paul VI in his explosive encyclical Humanae Vitae that contraception is gravely sinful and would have disastrous consequences for society.
It has also had disastrous consequences for the Catholic Church, perhaps more so than anyone could have imagined. While the teaching itself is safeguarded by the Holy Spirit, it is largely ignored by the laity and considered unmentionable among bishops and clergy — almost a source of embarrassment. Almost everything that has plagued the Church these past 50 years can be laid at the feet of the clergy's rejection of the teaching on contraception, to begin with the obvious, the declining number of committed Catholics over all — individuals, marriages, vocations and children, owing to contraception among Catholics over the past 50 years, there are tens of millions of fewer Catholics than there might otherwise have been.
And in the face of the Protestant embrace of contraception over the past 50 years, Catholics who would have stood firm against that onslaught would more than likely been committed and by now might have even comprised a majority of Americans. America could right now be a majority Catholic country with the bulk of those Catholics being faithful and committed.
Contraception changes nations. But Catholicism in America has taken a near-fatal blow, owing to contraception in other key areas besides just numbers. Consider the attitude of rebellion and dissent against Church authority that seized hold in the Church, owing to the clergy's rejection or dismissal of the teaching. A mindset or rejection gripped Catholic minds — a Catholic contraceptive mentality — that if one teaching could be disregarded, they all could be.
So-called "cafeteria Catholicism" was born from the Catholic contraceptive mentality — acceptance of divorce with its shattering of families, abortion, same-sex marriage. One by one, every hard truth of the Church could be scuttled — and they were — by the clergy's refusal to preach them and the laity's willingness to not hear them but what was going on behind the scenes in the Church, among the bishops and theologians and clergy — things the laity at the time were unaware of that brought this about.
This is one of the major topics in our newest book — Resistance: Fighting the Devil Within. This is a kind of follow up to our first book — Militant: Resurrecting Authentic Catholicism. We sold thousands of copies of Militant and many people wanted to know more. They wanted to understand not just some of the broader themes we laid out in Militant, tracing the ruination of the Church in general, but they wanted names and dates and places and circumstances. They wanted to understand the historical path of how all this happened. So we wrote Resistance — published and available just in time for Christmas, coincidentally.
For example, on the question of contraception, very few Catholics, even committed Catholics, could tell you of the betrayal of a very noted U.S. cardinal, celebrated in his day and how a backroom deal with some of his staff and Planned Parenthood brought about a meltdown in Catholic opposition. Or how some very close priest advisors of his, in cooperation with some politically active lay people, convinced him to give up the fight against contraception becoming legal.
Protestant America embraced contraception — whole heartedly and at a critical moment — the Catholic hierarchy turned tail and ran at the very moment they most needed to fight. Resistance is recommended reading if you want to be informed about what has happened to the Church in America. And the point is you need to be informed — you have to want to be informed so you can help explain to loved ones what has happened. Stated plainly, it's not enough to engage just in apologetics or the so-called New Evangelization, especially among Catholics who that whole effort is directly aimed at.
You'll start talking to many of them, and they will think you're crazy when you get into the teachings on sexual morality because, well, they will have never heard it before. Their whole experience of Catholicism has more than likely been the Church of Nice, watered-down rot, which has deliberately side-stepped the hard truths. So when you start telling them the hard truths, a natural question is going to arise in their minds about the reality of what you are saying. That's why you need to be armed with the data, the history of what happened.
A big part of evangelization today among Catholics is helping them to unlearn all the horrible stuff they've been taught and for that you need to be able to logically and coherently explain what happened.
Part Two lays out the solution, personally and collectively, which is what the solution has always been, which is personal holiness. But in Resistance, we approach this from a point of view never really talked about these days, using the Beatitudes as Our Blessed Lord intended them to be used — as a stairway to Heaven, a ladder to eternal life.
Every single one of us has the duty to try and save as many souls as possible and to do that in the current climate involves being able to explain the heart of the chaos in the Church and then how it can be overcome. This is why we wrote Resistance — to help you help save souls. So please order your copy today by clicking on the link. We've priced it especially for Christmas, so you might also consider buying it as gifts for loved ones or friends who you think it will help.
The history of how we got where we are is eye-popping, and it is a history very few know. Again, please just click on the link to place your order now.

Many of you may know through various social media that my father's health is declining, and he's been in and out of the hospital and rehab for about two months now. It's tough, as many of you may know, watching a parent decline and go through the end-of-life struggles of being anxious and worried for their children after they have died — of the constant hospitalizations and tests and poking and prodding and drugs and the whole scene.
To sit and be present to this, day after day, is quite draining, and it got me to thinking, what do those who don't have faith do? How do they get through this kind of thing — those who are dying, as well as those who are watching those who are dying? What a sad thing, indeed, to experience the dying process without God. And not just a sentimental vision of God which so many Catholics these days suffer from but a truthful, full, square-on understanding of just how momentous the approaching moment is.
As of this recording, the doctors can't say that my father's death is imminent, but it is clear that his time is drawing to an end, whether that's weeks or maybe months. Which means as it does and will for every one of us that he will close his eyes on this life forever and be escorted into the presence of the Living God, Who created him to be with Him for all eternity. And he will undergo the judgment of his life — every single thought, word, deed, action that he ever did or should have done and failed to do. For this reason, very close friends and I are at his bedside praying with him, mostly the Rosary but also specific prayers for the dying.
He has received the anointing of the sick, numerous times, the apostolic blessing, absolution — all that his Mother Church can provide. Everything in his life has prepared him for this final moment, and his eternal destiny hangs in the balance. Much of the medications he is on to battle pneumonia and settle his breathing have resulted in his being less aware, but before he started declining he was extremely aware of the final truth of his life and daily prepared himself to stand before his God. Acutely aware of the truth of eternal life and death that would soon be his lot, he became even more prayerful and even worried when he was too tired from aging to be able to say all his prayers.
This is how a Catholic should die — with a complete understanding of the enormous and final fate that lies before him and spiritually prepared to go before his God, Who is both loving Father, yes, but also the just judge. My father is one of a dying generation when it comes to this sort of understanding of the Faith. He never bought into the happy-clappy idiocy of the contemporary Church, which never ever teaches about this moment except draping it in a syrupy sentimentality that obscures the reality.
The sentimental Catholicism so prevalent these days deprives people of the truth of their ends. It paints a picture that everyone just waltzes into Heaven. It is constantly preaching the non-Catholic doctrine that we have a reasonable hope that all men are saved — a most insidious novelty. This is why my father was always so incredibly supportive of our work here at Church Militant and St. Michael's Media — why he would always encourage me to call out the phonies and dissent and error spewing from so many pulpits and clerics — to give them no rest or quarter for their errant mumblings. He recognized that those errors were from the diabolical as all spiritual error is.
My dad was on the exact same wavelength as other great Catholic men like Charlie Rice who was happy to host two seasons of one of our Premium programs, Right Reason or Fr. Pablo Straub who appears at the beginning of every episode of The One True Faith and also hosted his own show with us, Fr. Pablo Says. The instant each of these men met here at our studios, there was an immediate and lasting connection, the binding tie being of the sublime truth of the Catholic faith and its ultimate end, the salvation of their souls. It was such a quiet joy for me to sit back and watch the three of them interact and just be Catholic together.
They knew life, and they fully grasped its purpose. Each of them is and was all about Our Blessed Lord, and it was so evident. Three older gentlemen, two of whom have since gone to Our Lord and the third more than likely soon to go, each completely absorbed in their love of the God Whom they could not see but carried so closely within themselves. And there is a reason each of them was so supportive of what we do here because they saw in our work the truth of the Faith — the One True Faith established by Jesus Christ, the Son of God, outside of which there is no salvation.
Each of these men, my dad, Charlie and Fr. Pablo, were happy to host some Premium shows, here, at Church Militant. They wanted a demonstration of their love for Our Lord and His Holy Catholic Church to last beyond their own personal times here on earth. It's why we are inviting you today to sign up to be a Premium member or if you were in the past and your membership lapsed to renew your membership. It's just $10 a month and with that you get access to the tremendous insights of three men completely in love with Our Lord and His Church.
Two, as we said, have gone to Him, and my dad is soon to embrace the single reality for which he was created and known by God before all time. Sentimental Catholicism is a joke, it's a fraud, and it's a deception of the enemy. It plays on your emotions with the intent of obscuring the truth from your intellects. God commanded us to love Him with every aspect of our beings, including our minds, which are the only part of us capable of apprehending the Truth and Jesus Christ is the Truth.
Satan wants us thinking on the way to our deathbeds that everything is OK. Our sins are no big deal. Going to Mass isn't really important, that basically, I'm a good person because I'm not a mass murderer. But then once we actually arrive at the last days of our life on our deathbeds, it's a whole different scene. Now, the ancient enemy, the serpent, goes on the attack, accusing us, for he is the accuser and launching his last and most violent attacks against us, seeking to cause us to despair. And if you have spent a life in willful blissful ignorance, sinning and thinking it's no big deal because God never damns anyone, it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to overcome the demonic assaults that await you as they await all of us.
How we live is how we die. Did we live in accord and preparation to meet our God or did we marginalize it all and blow it off, presuming on the mercy of God when we did nothing to merit it? The purpose of this life is onefold — to die in a state of grace.
Everything we do here at Church Militant is geared to help you and us achieve that one end. It's why we are always asking you to sign up for a Premium membership because every single show we produce is painted on that canvas — man, in what state will you be when you go before your God? Nothing and we do mean absolutely nothing is more important than the answer to that question.
Thank you in advance for your support and Premium membership. And please keep my father in your prayers.

It's is a sad thing in today's Church that with the obvious need to evangelize mostly fallen away or lukewarm Catholics, the first thing that needs to be done is to deconstruct all the lies and half-truths and sentimental Catholicism that has been injected into the minds of so many. Unlike centuries and ages before when the Church was evangelizing barbarians and pagans and so forth, those people did not have misconceptions about Catholicism and the Catholic faith. In fact, they knew nothing except their false gods or no gods. They were essentially blank slates when it came to Catholicism and the Truth. But today, the authentic faith faces a challenge it has never had to before at least on this scale and that is to actually tear down all the false notions about the Faith that so many people have.
So, evangelization has in effect become not just a positive activity of telling people what they do not know but also a negative activity of subtracting from their minds and poorly formed intellects what they incorrectly know or understand. And you cannot look to the leadership in the Church for this. So much of the problem has derived from them — errant dissident heretical clergy, gay, careerists, misguided, cowardly, poorly formed themselves, you name it. The teachers themselves in many cases have become suspect or in some cases actually the enemy of the Faith.
So, all these various New Evangelization efforts are essentially worthless because they don't touch on the salient point that in the people's minds they are talking to are wild misconceptions about morality and mortality — about objective truth and natural law and so forth — all of this owing again to a clergy that has gone off the rails and abandoned its sacred duty to teach the truths of Our Blessed Lord. They have become disfigured social justice warriors and spiritual monsters — unable or unwilling to spread the truth of the Faith because in many many cases they simply don't believe the truth of the Faith. They have lost their supernatural faith and have therefore become dangerous.
Fortunately, Holy Mother Church is bigger than these men. They may occupy some of the important offices, temporarily, but they don't get to erase the history of the doctors and the saints and the mystics and the fathers. Those preachings and teachings and writings survive, and this is where Church Militant comes in. Given the horrible state of affairs in the Church, and they are horrible because they deprive people of the fullness of the Truth, we are introducing a little effort to help people gain access to the sacred truths and simply bypass the madness spewing from these spiritually insane clerics.
If you'll notice on our homepage — churchmilitant.com — we have a new drop-down tab that we are simply calling Catholicism. When you click on that tab a list of various brief articles, arranged alphabetically, will appear that takes less than one minute to read, covering a huge variety of topics of the Catholic faith. We are beginning with 50 and will be adding a couple every day, looking to building it up to hundreds and hundreds.
Think of them as a little minute catechism or minute of faith — a little booster shot for you. We have deliberately kept them very short so that they can easily be digested. Of course, if you want to know more, there are all sorts of references to where you can find out more. And — bonus — we have also developed them in such a way that you can print them out, each one will be completely contained to just a single page, and you can give them to your friends and family and co-workers, buddies at school, whoever.
We did this specifically because we know people's attention spans these days are extremely short, and these take less than one minute to read. So, please begin immediately taking advantage of these little Catholic nuggets of the glories of the Faith.
Now, to this point, we are able to launch initiatives like this because of your support for our Premium programming. That's why we are asking you to sign up today for a Premium subscription. It's only $10 a month. With that $10, we are, of course, able to produce Premium shows, but we get the value added, you get the value added, of keeping us in existence so we can do other things, as well like the Catholicism tab.
Many of the Catholicism articles link to Premium shows, for example, which cover the topic in much greater detail because while these are good for starters, certainly, they do not and should not encompass all someone needs to know about a specific teaching. Your Premium membership allows us to do all this and more. In fact, without your Premium memberships, we can't exist.
We are, as you know, completely independent of the establishment Church, many of whom hate us and work to destroy us because we say what they won't and teach what they refuse. We have hundreds of hours of programming available on practically every topic imaginable in the Church. Many, many people have converted to the One True Faith because of these programs, while other Catholics have moved from lukewarm to on-fire for the Faith.
We like to say around the studio that we are great plagiarizers, and we are, this is not our teaching, it is the teaching of Holy Mother Church, the One True Faith, we just copy it, make videos about it and represent it but all glory and honor to our Heavenly Father and the Holy Trinity.
So, please consider becoming or renewing your Premium membership, again, just $10 a month. Our Premium subscribers provide the lifeline for us to be able to challenge the heterodoxy so openly manifest in our parishes today, in addition to allowing us to bring you the unvarnished glory of the authentic faith.
So please, just click on the link and sign up today. And thank you in advance for all your generosity, prayers and support.

Exactly 60-years-ago today, July 27, 1957, my Dad, Russell Voris, converted to the Catholic faith from his childhood Nazarene upbringing in southwest Ohio. Happy anniversary, Dad. He had grown up in an environment where Catholics were seen as idol worshippers for praying to statues and so forth. Of course, that attitude was born from an ignorance like so many attitudes about Catholicism.
That was four years after he married my Irish Catholic mother, who he met in England while he was in the U.S. Air Force. Seems all so surreal, saying all this on air. It was three years after my brother was born and four years before I was born, and the Church my Dad converted into all those years ago bears very little resemblance to the Church he sees now.
Back then, the clergy cared about your eternal salvation. Today, only a small minority of them even think in those terms. Back then, the Church had all the respect that could possibly be mustered, but little was it known that dastardly Churchmen were already conniving and plotting behind the scenes the overthrow of all that was good. And back then, fathers, Catholic fathers, understood their role, at least more so than Catholic fathers today do.
My father knew that he had one single vocation in his married state — to help save his family from Hell and do everything he could to help us to Heaven. Like all dads, not everything he did was perfect or went the way he planned. But he, in cooperation with my mother, made sure that my brother and I had a deep grounding in the Faith so that if and when we might wander from it, the tether would always be there. The role of a father is to do all he can to save his children's eternal lives, period.
The role of a husband is to do all he can to save his wife's eternal life, period. Nothing else on this planet matters more than those goals. If a father gives his children everything but does not encourage them in the ways of salvation, then he is a rotten father and not worthy of the title. My father came to a deeper and deeper understanding of this as he grew deeper in his faith, after having been received into the Catholic Church at 28 years old, husband for four years and father of a toddler.
Sixty years later, I am proud, in a good way, to say that my father is one of the best Catholics, walking the planet. He knows the Truth and lives by it every waking moment, although he does take more naps these days. He's lived with me for about ten years, moving in a couple years after my mother died. I watched him never stray from her bedside, as she bore an awfully painful stomach cancer, a suffering she had called upon herself for the salvation of my soul and my brother's.
My Dad has grown into a wise old man who understands that his role as a father was to be a reflection of Almighty God who is the Father. He spends hours in prayer each day, even when he occasionally has not a good day, suffering from the effects of an old body. He often remarks how these crooked bishops and evil clergy, nearing death themselves, can so blatantly disregard what is awaiting them if they do not repent and mend their ways.
In some early dark days of the apostolate, it was my Dad who kept my spirits up with his wisdom, pointing out to me the need for souls to be fed — something he had much earlier recognized was not happening. He could recognize this easily because he knew what things were like. He used to watch Bp. Sheen on TV, as did most of America in the 1950s. He even watched the saint in the making when he wasn't Catholic yet.
My Dad was able to become Catholic because he is one of those of whom the angel Gabriel said is like the shepherds — "a man of goodwill." He has always loved the Truth. When we were growing up, he always stressed to us the importance of telling the truth, of keeping your word, whatever the cost. My father became Catholic because he was already a man of integrity and so the clarion call of the Truth of Catholicism echoed in him as soon as he was exposed to it.
My father was evangelized and converted, not with any silly blathering on about joy and emotions. He grew up with that in the Protestant congregation he was born into and saw through it, even telling us about how they were taught how to speak in tongues. It is completely phony, all this emotion-focused lunacy in the Church. That's exactly what he thinks and isn't shy about saying.
No, what drew him to the Faith was the clarity that is so lacking today. A clarity that has been replaced by a false charity and false mercy — too scared, too unloving to speak the Truth. When my Catholic father does eventually leave the Church Militant on his final journey to the Church Triumphant — and don't worry Dad, yes, we will offer many Masses and prayers for you because of Purgatory — the world will have lost a great Catholic. God willing, that will not be for some more years to go. Russell Voris, my Dad, a man who understood that from the moment his fatherhood began that his main role was the salvation of our souls.
Say a little prayer of thanksgiving for my Dad's conversion. Without it, you wouldn't be watching this right now. Love you, Dad.
