Henry B Eyring: It will take unshakable faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to choose the way to eternal life. It is by using that faith we can know the will of God. It is by acting on that faith we build the strength to do the will of God. And it is by exercising that faith in Jesus Christ that we can resist temptation and gain forgiveness through the Atonement.

Today we conclude the study of 2 Nephi 9 which has brought a vast number of principles that we need to learn from.  We consider the importance of scholarly learning alongside spiritual development and how this balance can bless our lives. We also reflect on Jacob's message of hope as well as his warnings given to his people. 

Dieter F Uchtdorf: Work can be ennobling and fulfilling, but remember Jacob’s warning not to “spend … your labor for that which cannot satisfy.” If we devote ourselves to the pursuit of worldly wealth and the glitter of public recognition at the expense of our families and our spiritual growth, we will discover soon enough that we have made a fool’s bargain. The righteous work we do within the walls of our homes is most sacred; its benefits are eternal in nature. It cannot be delegated. It is the foundation of our work as priesthood holders.

Henry B Eyring: I cannot promise you a miracle, but I can promise this: you will feel the influence of the Holy Ghost helping you; and you will feel approval.  And you will know that, for at least those minutes, the power of the Holy Ghost was with you. And you will know that some healing came into your soul, for the Spirit will not dwell in an unclean tabernacle. His influence cleanses. Not only is your feeling the influence of the Holy Ghost a sign that the Atonement, the cure for sin, is working in your life, but you will also know that a preventive against sin is working.

Today we begin our study of 2 Nephi 9 - a deep and rich chapter focusing on the power of the Saviour in the great plan of salvation. We consider the reason why the previous chapters of Isaiah were shared before this and how the blessings of the Atonement of Jesus Christ are infinite. 

Shayne M Bowen: The Atonement of Jesus Christ is available to each of us. His Atonement is infinite. It applies to everyone, even you. It can clean, reclaim, and sanctify even you. That is what infinite means—total, complete, all, forever. President Boyd K. Packer has taught: “There is no habit, no addiction, no rebellion, no transgression, no apostasy, no crime exempted from the promise of complete forgiveness. That is the promise of the atonement of Christ”

We consider what comfort the Lord offers His covenant people and how certain principles like trying to overcome peer pressure applies just as much today as it did before Christ came. We reflect on where these blessings come from and how the Lord can strengthen us.

Neil L Andersen: I am amazed at the Savior’s encircling arms of mercy and love for the repentant, no matter how selfish the forsaken sin. I testify that the Savior is able and eager to forgive our sins. Except for the sins of those few who choose perdition after having known a fulness, there is no sin that cannot be forgiven. What a marvelous privilege for each of us to turn away from our sins and to come unto Christ. Divine forgiveness is one of the sweetest fruits of the gospel, removing guilt and pain from our hearts and replacing them with joy and peace of conscience. Jesus declares, 'Will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you?

In time, I found that the scriptures had answers to things I needed to know.

I read, “Now these are the words, and ye may liken them unto you and unto all men”. I took that to mean that the scriptures are likened to me personally, and that is true of everyone else.

When a verse I had passed over several times took on personal meaning, I thought whoever wrote that verse had a deep and mature understanding of my life and how I felt.

Today we conclude our study of 2 Nephi 1-5, focusing on the Psalm of Nephi covered in 2 Nephi 4:15-35. We consider the love that Nephi had for the scriptures and what we can learn from this devotion to these words. We also reflect on the passion of the language used by Nephi and the love it demonstrates of the Saviour.

Allen D Haynie: Although avoidance of sin is the preferred pattern in life, as far as the efficacy of the Atonement of Jesus Christ is concerned, it matters not what sins we have committed or how deep we have sunk into that proverbial pit. It matters not that we are ashamed or embarrassed because of the sins that, as the prophet Nephi said, “so easily beset” us. It matters not that once upon a time we traded our birthright for a mess of pottage.

What does matter is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, suffered “pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind” so “that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people.” What does matter is that He was willing to condescend, to come to this earth and descend “below all things” and suffer “more powerful contradictions than any man” ever could. What does matter is that Christ is pleading our case before the Father, “saying: Father, behold the sufferings and death of him who did no sin, in whom thou wast well pleased; … wherefore, Father, spare these my brethren that believe on my name, that they may come unto me and have everlasting life.” That is what really matters and what should give all of us renewed hope and a determination to try one more time, because He has not forgotten us.

In this episode, we consider the great prophecy shared with Joseph, Lehi's son, in his blessing from his father. We ponder the message of the Restoration and why this meant so much to Lehi as he shared this final message with one of his sons of the wilderness.

Milton R Hunter: Approximately 3,500 years before the birth of Joseph Smith, the prophet Joseph of Egyptian fame prophesied that in the latter days God would raise up a great prophet, seer, and revelator. This prophet and seer would perform a great and marvelous work for the salvation of the human family. His name would be Joseph, and his father's name would be Joseph . . . The Prophet Joseph Smith fits in every detail with the prophecy made anciently by Joseph of Egypt. Joseph Smith was God's holy anointed prophet, seer, and revelator through whom the gospel was revealed from heaven and the true Church of Jesus Christ established in the latter days in fulfillment of the predictions made by many of the ancient prophets. In every respect Joseph Smith was God's prophet, seer, and revelator who was 'great like unto Moses.
