Today we conclude with our very last study into the New Testament for 2019. We look at the final verses of the book of Revelation which speak about not adding to the words of that book. We discuss the implications for this when considering continuous revelation.
Howard W Hunter: These verses of scripture have been cited repeatedly by those attempting to discredit the Book of Mormon, claiming that God’s revelation to man is closed. Nothing more is to be added and nothing is to be taken away. They assert that the Book of Mormon is an attempt to add to the words of the Bible. These claims were made when the Book of Mormon was first published and have continued to be made, and are made today. Is there any validity to such assertions? The answer to this query is really very simple. A careful reading of the words makes it clear that the warning against adding to or taking away does not refer to the whole Bible or even to the New Testament, but to use John’s words, only to the words of “the book of this prophecy.” That is, the prophecy contained in the book of Revelation. This is substantiated by the fact that some of the books of the New Testament had not yet been written when John wrote the book of Revelation, and even those that had been written and were in existence at that time had not yet been gathered into one compilation.

Join us as we continue our in depth study of the conclusion of the book of Revelation. After discussing the outcome of Babylon when all is said and done, we now reflect on the blessings that will come to true disciples of the Lamb as they diligently endure to the end.
Dieter F Uchtdorf: That Day of Judgment will be a day of mercy and love—a day when broken hearts are healed, when tears of grief are replaced with tears of gratitude, when all will be made right.
Yes, there will be deep sorrow because of sin. Yes, there will be regrets and even anguish because of our mistakes, our foolishness, and our stubbornness that caused us to miss opportunities for a much greater future.
But I have confidence that we will not only be satisfied with the judgment of God; we will also be astonished and overwhelmed by His infinite grace, mercy, generosity, and love for us, His children. If our desires and works are good, if we have faith in a living God, then we can look forward to what Moroni called “the pleasing bar of the great Jehovah, the Eternal Judge.”

Today we continue with the study of Revelation where we look at how the Final Judgement will be a part of the Father's plan. We consider how this judgement will be of our progress and our hearts as well as acts we may have done.
J Richard Clarke: May I share with you a personal experience to illustrate how humbling this can be? I was employed by a major corporation for almost twenty-five years. During those years I developed a personal friendship with a fine business associate from Texas. Our careers paralleled each other very closely. A few years ago, he presented me with a most unusual gift, which I shall always cherish. It was a large, molded bronze, personalized coat of arms. He said, “I have been observing you for many years and have created an original coat of arms using symbols which I believe represent the four most important values to which you have committed your life, namely, your church, your family, your profession, and your quest for personal development.”
Naturally, I was surprised, deeply impressed, and flattered. As the significance of this gift settled upon my mind, the thought of someone quietly taking mental notes of my actions, attitudes, and values fired my imagination. I realized the weighty responsibility each of us has to demonstrate accurately the principles and priorities to which we are committed. It was like a mini-foretaste of Judgment Day!

Join us today as we continue studying the final chapters of Revelation, particularly 17-18. We reflect on how we are called out of a spiritual Babylon today and called to act.
William J Critchlow Jnr: We live in a wicked world like unto Babylon of old. Our latter-day prophets, like the prophets of old, have cried, "Come out, come out of Babylon". To come out physically presents a problem, but spiritually it is possible, and spiritually we must come out if we are to prosper in the land.
We come out spiritually when we pay honestly our tithes and offerings. We come out spiritually when we attend to our priesthood duties and attend our priesthood, Sacrament, and stake conference meetings. These the members of the Church have been commanded to attend.

Merry Christmas everyone! Today we are continuing our Come Follow Me study but interestingly we are studying the role of angels, specifically in the coming forth of the everlasting gospel in the latter days. We make reference to angels in the Christmas story and how they help the work of the Lord move forward.
Mark E Petersen: He came as predicted, and Moroni was that angel. His coming opened a new dispensation of the gospel of Christ, direct from God. It had no relationship to any other religious movement. It was a new and divine episode, a modern revelation from the heavens, a fresh effort on the part of the Almighty to introduce today’s nations to the gospel of His Beloved Son.
There is only one gospel of Christ. That angel, flying in midheaven, possessed it, and brought it back to earth as a divine restoration of divine truths. And we repeat—that angel was Moroni.

Today we begin the study of the final chapter of our New Testament Come Follow Me study. Join in as we consider the War in Heaven and how it continues on Earth today. We reflect on where we have come from in this conflict and the innate power in us all to resist the adversary.
Ezra Taft Benson: We live in a day of great challenge. We live in that time of which the Lord spoke when he said, “Peace shall be taken from the earth, and the devil shall have power over his own dominion.” (D&C 1:35.) We live in that day which John the Revelator foresaw when “the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” (Rev. 12:17.) The dragon is Satan; the woman represents the Church of Jesus Christ. Satan is waging war against the members of the Church who have testimonies and are trying to keep the commandments. And while many of our members are remaining faithful and strong, some are wavering. Some are falling. Some are fulfilling John’s prophecy that in the war with Satan, some Saints would be overcome.

Today we continue to study the Book of Mormon Study Challenge. We look at Day 11 which deals with the question about how we can grow our faith. We discuss what things are vital in this process.
Dieter F Uchtdorf: As we truly humble ourselves, we will be blessed with this gift to have faith and to hope for things which are not seen but are true. As we experiment upon the words given to us by the scriptures and the living prophets—even if we only have a desire to believe—and do not resist the Spirit of the Lord, our souls will be enlarged and our understanding will be enlightened.

Today, we reflect on a very recent publication from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regarding its use of finances. It states six main ways the Church carefully implements sacred funds donated by its dedicated members and the blessings to literally millions that it brings, after some reports to the contrary.
Publication from the Church: The Church follows the same sound financial principles it teaches its membership. It avoids debt, lives within its budget and prepares for the future. Little wonder the pages of the Wall Street Journal recently praised Utah's strong economy, in part because of the state's "predominant [Latter-day Saint] culture that encourages out-of-fashion virtues such as thrift, delayed gratification and stable families."

Join us today as we study a little into a question I have have for a number of years but never actually sat down to study for myself. We consider how old the Saviour was when the Magi visited Him, as indicated in the new Christ Child video from the Church.
Matthew 2:16: Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
