Today we continue our study of Ephesians and in particular the deeper look at the whole armour of God. We consider the shield of faith and how the scriptures describe it as the most important part of our defence against the fiery darts of the wicked.

Ulisses Soares: This knowledge acquired through the Holy Ghost is nothing more than our testimony, which propels our faith and determination to follow the teachings of the restored gospel in these latter days, regardless of the popular messages we hear from the world. Our testimony must be our shield to protect us against the fiery darts of the adversary in his attempts to attack us. It will guide us safely through the darkness and confusion that exist in the world today.

Keep your gospel shoes on, or as Paul wrote to the Ephesians, “Stand therefore, having … your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.” The Lord would say to you tonight what the angel said long ago to Simon Peter: “Arise. … Bind on thy sandals. … Follow me.”

I have a stronger desire to live close to my Heavenly Father. I long to serve Him. Harold B Lee: It is fruitless for us to try to enjoin youth to be chaste by merely doing as the military have sought to teach, merely because of a fear of a loathsome disease if he is unchaste, or as some of our schools would teach, merely because of the harm that would thus come to society as a result of his unchastity.

Paul, the Apostle, taught that we must be girded with a girdle of truth. What truth shall we be girded with? Our loins must be girded with the truth that every handsome young man and every beautiful young girl is winged for a heavenly flight.

William J Critchlow Jnr: Did women by their own free choice choose to be the family heart rather than the family head? Scripturally "the husband is the head of the wife" and he is the family priest and spokesman. Did God, however, in his infinite wisdom purposely make mother the family heart, blessing her with subtle power to sway the head?

"There is a center in every home

From which all joys must start.

Where is that center?

It is in the mother's heart."

God, choosing woman to be his partner in the creative process, tucked away somewhere in her bosom a spark of his divine love, which later, at the time of motherhood, glows to brilliancy in every mother's heart.

D Todd Christofferson: Correction can come through others, especially those who are God-inspired to promote our happiness. Apostles, prophets, patriarchs, bishops, and others have been put into the Church today, just as anciently, “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ”. Perhaps some of the things said in this conference have come to you as a call to repentance or change, which if heeded will lift you to a higher place. We can help one another as fellow Church members; it is one of the primary reasons that the Savior established a church. Even when we encounter mean-spirited criticism from persons who have little regard or love for us, it can be helpful to exercise enough meekness to weigh it and sift out anything that might benefit us.

Join us as I get pretty excited as I consider the announcement made yesterday regarding the changes to witness requirements for ordinances. We consider how this is a perfect example of the restoration of the fulness of times and how previous dispensations have all led to this final one.

Russell M Nelson: Priesthood authority has existed in many dispensations, such as those of Adam, Noah, Enoch, Abraham, Moses, the meridian of time, the Jaredites, the Nephites, and others. All previous dispensations were limited in time, as each ended in apostasy. They were also limited to small segments of planet Earth. In contrast, our dispensation—the dispensation of the fulness of times—will not be limited in time or place. Globally, it will host a whole, complete, and perfect union, welding together dispensations, keys, powers, and glories from the days of Adam even to the present time. Joseph Smith conferred priesthood keys upon all of the Twelve. Those keys have been transferred to successive leaders. Today President Gordon B. Hinckley holds authority for every restored key held by “all those who have received a dispensation at any time from the beginning of the creation.”

David A Bednar: Just as a rope obtains its strength from many intertwined individual strands, so the gospel of Jesus Christ provides the greatest perspective of truth and offers the richest blessings as we heed the admonition of Paul to “gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him.” Importantly, this vital gathering of truth is centered in and focused upon the Lord Jesus Christ because He is “the way, the truth, and the life."
