“The soul is destroyed as to the great purposes of its being with enjoyment, dignity, honor, holiness, happiness. It will not be annihilated, but will live and linger on in destruction. It seems difficult to conceive how any one can profess to hold that this passage is a part of the word of God, and yet deny the doctrine of future eternal punishment. It would not be possible to state that doctrine in clearer language than this. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 reads, “Now may the God of peace himself make you completely holy and may your spirit and soul and body be kept entirely blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”. That blessing upon the Thessalonians made by Paul is, at the very least, an impressive one! What could Paul be saying and / or bestowing upon the Thessalonians? How could they, or anyone!, be entirely blameless, or found that way by Christ, at His coming?!

Where is the exceptions found in the phrase, “and, …  for, … A – L – L.”?! It would appear, for us today, this applies to what we, in the States at least, call, “the body”, referring to our local church of attendance by us. How we approach church life and daily life seemingly is in contradiction, here in scripture. However, the contradiction is ours alone. We believe, contrary to what scripture is saying here, that we should be very public people when scripture is quite to the contrary in this matter. Remember, it said, “…ASPIRE to lead a QUIET life, attend to their (YOUR) own business, and work with their hands.”.

What did this verse just say about rejection of what Paul is saying? It said, “…the one who rejects this is not rejecting H – U – M – A – N authority … but … G – O – D…”. This rejection is worth examining further.
