A prominent Clare developer claims government plans to reduce studio apartment sizes will not stimulate housing growth. It comes as Planning Minister John Cummins and Housing Minister James Browne have published new guidelines that would lower the minimum apartment size from 37 to 32 square metres. The coalition claims the plans would increase delivery without compromising disability, fire safety, or environmental requirements. However, Ciarán Breen of Ciarán Breen Construction in Ennis believes the new measure offers no incentives to builders.
