Trapped in Paradise is far from the most beloved entry in the great Christmas movie pantheon, as evidenced by the fact that it has not yet been covered on this podcast. Trapped in Paradise remains one of my favorite Christmas movies and one that I’ve revisited roughly every other year since seeing it in the theater in 1994.

In a TV landscape where lasting success is incredibly difficult to come by, The Big Bang Theory has defied all odds and managed to survive for a full nine seasons (with at least one more yet to come). In terms of ratings, the show is as popular and successful as ever. In terms of quality, things were a little more chaotic this year.

This week we are tackling Season 8 of The Big Bang Theory and giving our thoughts on this season? Usually, once a TV series starts approaching the 10-season mark, each new season is a case of diminishing returns. While the show did seem to rest on its laurels for a good portion of Season 8, the show is no better or worse than it has been in recent years. Let us know your thoughts on Season 8.

The biggest news of the week is the closure of the Snyderverse/DCEU. This is wise both creatively and financially. Since its launch in 2013 with "Man of Steel," the Snyderverse lurched from one misconceived movie to another, stalling out in 2017 with the jarringly awful "Justice League," which Joss Whedon finished while Snyder dealt with a family tragedy.

Though the filmmaker was granted the unprecedented opportunity to finish his cut, which WB released to HBO Max in 2021 as "Zack Snyder's Justice League," the studio was clear that this was a one-off to satiate rabid (and, to some extent, artificially inflated) fan demand. Snyder would not be returning to the DCEU in any creative capacity. Everyone everyone associated with the Snyderverse could be on their way out.

Most of the time, it seems that it's all downhill for a TV series after its fourth or fifth season. Sitcoms are certainly no exception. The character relationships and conflicts grow too comfortable and familiar. The humor becomes stale and redundant. There's just less and less water in the well upon each return trip. And that certainly seemed to be the case with The Big Bang Theory in Season 6. While that season certainly had its moments, its overall uneven quality suggested that maybe it was time for Sheldon, Leonard, and the rest of the gang to fade gracefully into the night. But stale or not, The Big Bang Theory remains popular enough, CBS renewed it for another season.

This is truly a first-timer's watch and thoughts of The Big Bang Theory Season 7.

Welcome to a new episode of the Cinema Gold Show. This week we continue our new series Big Bang: A First Timer's Watch and Review of The Big Bang Theory. This week we move on to season 6. The episodes in Season 6 ranged from great to meh. There weren't really any stinkers in the bunch, but the truly memorable installments were relatively few and far between. The series just seemed to drag its heels throughout the season, leaving our heroes in pretty much the same place they were a season ago.

This is truly a first-timer's watch and thoughts of The Big Bang Theory.
