On this special episode, we take an in-depth look at Obi Wan Kenobi, now on Disney+. We also pair a few easy-drinking session beers, to go along with our series on wedding films.
*SPOILERS ABOUND* This is a recap of the first two episodes, so proceed with caution.

Our wedding series continues with the most violent entry of all time: Quentin Tarantino’s masterpiece, Kill Bill. We have some strong opinions about this classic film. To pair, we’re doing reception-friendly wines. In this case, we try a Torrontes from Argentina and a Cava from Spain. Both are delicious, and quite affordable!
(Note: We review both installments as one complete film, as Tarantino originally intended.)

It’s wedding season! Many great movies have been made about tying the knot: Dramas, comedies, and even blood-soaked revenge flicks. We’re going to kick things off with an all-time classic, Steve Martin’s remake of Father of the Bride. To pair with this series, we’re picking budget-minded wines that will please guests at a reception. We’ll even throw a few splurges here and there, to keep things spicy.
Next week: Tarantino’s wedding epic.

Our baseball series concludes with a 90s staple: Rookie of the Year. It’s a goofy little fantasy about a dweeby kid (Thomas Ian Nicholas) who jacks up his throwing arm, and ends up with a blazing fastball. Naturally, the Chicago Cubs come calling, and the boy becomes a star pitcher! We had a lot of fun watching and talking about this one. To go with it, we had the Leftie Rosé, from France. As Taylor and I are both left-handed, it just seemed appropriate.
Next up, we kick off wedding season with a schmaltzy comedy.

It’s a special mini-episode, and we’re taking a look at Everything Everywhere All at Once! This is a weird, exciting, special movie, and Sean, Travis, and I have strong opinions. And don’t worry, we’ll keep things spoiler-free for you!

It’s the fifth inning of our baseball series! This week, we tackle an 80s raunch comedy: Major League. It has an all-star cast, including many actors at the beginning of long careers. We’ll pair this minor classic with some refreshing Gewürztraminer. (Pronounce it: Guh-VERZ-truh-meen-er. Or: Guh-VERZ-tram-un-er.

It’s part four of our baseball series! This week, we’re looking at one of the most cerebral sports movies ever made–Moneyball. Directed by Bennett Miller (Capote) and written by Steven Zallian and Aaron Sorkin, this film snagged multiple Oscar nominations and was a major box office hit. It also features an all-star cast, including Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Chris Pratt. For wine, we pair this film with a classic Beaujolais, known in France as a picnic wine.

It’s the third installment of our baseball series, and we’re dusting off a 90s classic: The Sandlot. This one has major nostalgia vibes for all of us, and for sheer fun factor, it holds up really well. As for wine, we drink a delicious Müller-Thurgau from Oregon.
(A note: If you want to impress your friends, this is how you pronounce it: MOO-ler TUR-gow. Also, a correction: I cited this grape as Austrian in origin, but it actually comes from neighboring Germany. I think I just associate it with Austria because all our European Thurgaus in this market are from there.)

It’s part two of our baseball series! For this installment, we look at an all-time favorite: A League of Their Own. Featuring an all-star cast, this film tells an important part of WWII history and women’s athletics. Plus, it’s got tons of great quotes, and it’s a lot of fun.
For vino, this series pairs up with approachable wines for ballgames and grill food. Los Conenjos Malditos is an excellent little Tempranillo from Spain. You can hear all our tasting notes in the episode!
