  • Elizabeth Roberts: The Lady and the Giant Spider

    Send us Fan Mail

The human star of ITSY BITSY, Elizabeth Roberts joins Kathy, Mark and Burk for a deep dive into everyone’s favorite giant spider movie. Elizabeth gives a very entertaining behind the scenes look at the production of ITSY BITSY and how it all happened and what it was liking working with the other cast members… including the giant spider herself, which was not computer generated, but right there in the room with the actors. A really fun discussion about getting films made and the sometimes strange philosophy of acting.

Music composed and performed by Burk Sauls.

  • Starfish: Mixtapes, Monsters, A Turtle Named Bellini and Long Shots

    Send us Fan Mail

Kathy, Mark and Burk review Al White's beautiful film, STARFISH, which has things we like, and things we didn’t like so much.

Kathy talks about the promotion and trailer for the upcoming Mike Flanagan film of a Stephen King novel called DOCTOR SLEEP.  We’re pretty hopeful because one of our favorite directors is making another adaptation of a book by one of our favorite writers. We get into THE MATRIX film and the upcoming sequel to the original trilogy, and the Keanu Reeves phenomenon. Burk talks more about black and white film and and 80s film by Francis Ford Coppola called RUMBLE FISH that takes inspiration from the 40s Film Noir style. More discussion about what it means to tell a story with a camera.

Music composed and performed by Burk Sauls.

  • Itsy Bitsy: I Don't Like Spiders and Snakes

    Send us Fan Mail

The Cinemondo gang turns our attention to a giant spider movie, which gives Mark the willies, but we made him watch it anyway. Micah Gallo's ITSY BITSY is a classic old-school monster film with some nicely defined characters and a genuinely creepy monster. And stars Bruce Davison - bonus! Join us in the attic where we discuss Insect Horror and why bugs and spiders can be so haunting and creepy.

We also discuss the impossible dream of staying entertained on an airplane and some upcoming horrors, trailers and teaser posters for IT: CHAPTER TWO, the sequel to IT. Mark discusses the top ten box office hits and Burk digs into a lesser known Jaques Tourneur film called, NIGHTFALL.

Music composed and performed by Burk Sauls.

  • To Live and Work in LaLa Land

    Send us Fan Mail

What is Hollywood? Kathy, Mark and Burk talk about what it’s like to work in the entertainment industry. Is it all about who you know? Luck? Timing? Does talent and a willingness to work your butt off have anything to do with it?

We also get into the promotional materials for the upcoming Netfilx series MINDHUNTER 2 with Kathy, some insights into how current events can impact the release of certain films with Mark and Burk talks about old movies. Again. But seriously, they’re really great old movies. Trust me. Honest.

  • Triangle: Be Careful With That Ax

    Send us Fan Mail

We discuss the 2009 film TRIANGLE. Definitely worth a look if you missed it when it came out. Kathy, Mark and Burk do their best to avoid spoilers as they discuss a movie that’s almost nothing but spoilers. It’s basically a film about a group of folks on a sailboat who encounter a horrifying storm and find what appears to be their rescue in the form of an abandoned cruise ship that just happens to be passing by. Set, we assume, in the mysterious Bermuda Triangle, and full of twists and mysteries.

Music composed and performed by Burk Sauls.

    Send us Fan Mail

The Cinemondo gang changes up their format and has some fun with musical interludes. Let us know what you think! We also discuss directors, Christopher Caldwell and Zeek Earl's film, PROSPECT starring Pedro Pascal; a surprisingly good low budget sci-fi film about being stranded on an alien planet and only one way to get back into orbit.

  • Jacob Pitts: Into the Vampire's Tomb

    Send us Fan Mail

Special guest, actor Jacob Pitts (Justified,The Sinner, Eurotrip) returns! He joins Kathy, Lisa and Burk  as we delve into vampire lore and what it is about the blood-drinking undead that keeps them haunting the realms of entertainment. We go into DARK SHADOWS and BLOOD FOR DRACULA and BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA and everything else they can think of including Count Duckula, Count Chocula and The Count on Sesame Street… Christopher Lee, Bela Lugosi Udo Kier and Frank Langella. Why do we love vampires so much? Maybe because we’re vampires ourselves? Maybe… Mark will return soon after his hiatus.

The Cinemondo gang takes a close at US… did it live up to the hype? Is it a horror film or a science fiction film? We discuss what we think the director was going for and try to analyze the story and the motivations of the characters. Be warned, not all of us agree on this one…

  • Midsommar: Cults, the Occult and a Cult Movie

    Send us Fan Mail

The Cinemondo Cult takes a Deep Dive into Ari Aster’s new film MIDSOMMAR. A disorienting almost psychedelic movie is made even more bizarre by a 7.1 earthquake! We discuss this disturbing, and unique followup to Aster’s HEREDITARY, and we all agree that this is classy horror film that’s definitely worth discussing at length. Many details to discuss and more going on than you might notice on the first viewing. Definitely a filmmaker to keep our eyes on…. but please, don’t eat the mushrooms.

  • Jacob Pitts Gets All 70's With Us

    Send us Fan Mail

Kathy, Lisa and Burk (Mark had the day off) have a fascinating chat with actor Jacob Pitts about acting and what makes a bad movie good and what makes a good movie great. We get into the 70s, and try to figure out what makes films from that era so good and still resonant with us. Why are so many of them iconic and so powerful? Jacob Pitts tells us some great stories about working on JUSTIFIED, SINNER and EUROTRIP among many other great projects. We go down some tangents and we go from THE TAKING OF PELHAM 1,2,3 to MAC AND ME to BASKETCASE and all points in between.
