Kathy, Lisa and Burk (Mark is off touring with his punk rock band) have a chat about punk rock movies… What makes a punk rock movie legit? What makes a good punk movie and what makes them seem fake and dumb? We talk about fictional punks and documentaries about real punk bands, and Lisa brings her expertise on the subject to the table and lets us know some fascinating facts about being the founder of the legendary Frontier Records label. Get ready to pogo or whatever it is the kids are doing these days, but be careful or you might wind up on Dr. Quincy’s slab.
Be sure and listen to special guest legendary Lisa Fancher's streaming radio. It rocks!: http://www.rdsn.net/kxfu/
Check out her label Frontier Records and buy some legit punk!

Kathy, Mark and Burk welcome special guest Gabrielle Stone to the Cinemondo studios. Gabrielle is a filmmaker, writer, director and actress… daughter of Christopher Stone and Dee Wallace Stone. Gabrielle tells us about her short films and various upcoming projects including a book about a nightmare year in her life that she turned into a life-changing positive. We all have a really fun time chatting with Gabrielle about making films, being inspired, surviving the entertainment industry and following your heart even if it hurts.
Fair warning: Darwin is very talkative during this episode and we still don't have any idea what kind of point he was trying to make. Gabrielle didn't deserve this. Enjoy anyway!

Another Mystery Date episode where Kathy, Mark and Burk surprise each other with their terrible taste in movies... or their excellent taste, I can’t remember. Anyway, the gang brings up three movies that you may not have seen, but should... or maybe a film you haven’t seen in years but need to see again. Check it out and find out if you’re all caught up on the cool stuff.

The gang talks with their old friend, director Joe Berlinger, about his amazing work in documentary film, and scripted film. We go through Joe’s history starting with BROTHER’S KEEPER, his renowned trilogy PARADISE LOST (The West Memphis Three case (Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley) co-directed with Bruce Sinofsky) on up through his most recent films about Ted Bundy, EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL AND VILE and THE TED BUNDY TAPES.
We get into the struggles and the ups and downs of getting films made, and the power of film to encourage social change. Kathy and Burk spent many years being subjects of Joe’s camera in the second and third PARADISE LOST documentaries, and we discuss our involvement and Joe’s philosophy of filmmaking.

The Cinemondo gang discuss Paul Schrader and his most recent film FIRST REFORMED with Ethan Hawke. What are the themes that run through Schrader’s work, and how do his earlier films like TAXI DRIVER and RAGING BULL compare to this latest film.

Kathy, Mark, Burk and their guest Lisa Fancher discuss the two versions of SUSPIRIA. The differences, the deeper implications and what we think they both have in common. Witchcraft and ultra violence in two very different, but oddly stylized worlds. What does it all mean, though?
MAJOR SPOILER WARNING: This is an in depth look at these films so spoilers are revealed big time. Watch First Listen Later.

Kathy, Mark and Burk talk about a couple of Asian films that couldn’t be more different from each other. THE WANDERING EARTH, a massive blockbuster Chinese sci-fi epic, and the very effective and moody BURNING from Korea. One is total overblown escapism full of action film tropes and the other one is an engaging psychological thriller that’s probably nothing like what you might expect.

The Cinemondo gang welcomes writer and director Erik Kristopher Myers who may or may not have made a fake documentary about a sinister urban legend entity who may or may not appear if you can stare into a certain tunnel without blinking. BUTTERFLY KISSES is a great example of a “found footage” horror film, but with a bit more. It’s also a puzzle and a mystery and a twisty, meta character study that makes you question every motive and every weird thing you think you just saw.

We talk about Joe Berlinger’s Netflix film EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL AND VILE, and we conclude that it’s a very effective and unusual serial killer film. It may not be what you’re expecting, but it’s an honest look into what was happening back when Ted Bundy was around and on trial and being discussed by everyone with a TV. Was he a charming genius attorney who got railroaded, or a vicious serial killer. Back before the verdicts that was an actual question. Berlinger’s film lets you experience that part of the 70s and the strange magnetism Ted Bundy used to get what he wanted, but his charm and charisma couldn’t outshine the evidence against him.
