Elizabeth Anne Holmes (born February 3, 1984) is an American businesswoman convicted of fraud in connection with her health technology company Theranos.[2] Holmes founded Theranos in 2003, and its valuation soared in the early 2010s after it claimed to have revolutionized blood testing by developing methods that needed only very small volumes of blood, such as from a fingerprick.[3][4] In 2015, Forbes had named Holmes the youngest and wealthiest self-made female billionaire in the United States on the basis of a $9-billion valuation of her company.[5] In the following year, as accusations of fraud about Theranos's claims began to surface, Forbes revised its estimate of Holmes's net worth to zero,[6] and Fortune named her in its feature article on "The World's 19 Most Disappointing Leaders".[7]
Comic book advertisements are a common feature in American comic books mainly from the 1940s onwards. As these advertisements were directed at young people, many made sensational claims,[1] and sold the products for a few dollars or less, to be sent to a post office box. Products offered included novelty items, toys, and self-improvement courses such as drawing and body building.

A shark repellent is any method of driving sharks away from an area. Shark repellents are a category of animal repellents. Shark repellents are of interest to the commercial fishing industry as well as to swimmers, surfers, and other people in the ocean. Shark repellent technologies include magnetic shark repellent, electropositive shark repellents, electric repellents, and semiochemicals. Some electric repellents may reduce shark interactions with bait by about half, depending on the product, the type of shark, and other factors;[1][2] the other types are not expected to have a significant protective effect for swimmers.[3]
The expedition aimed to find if there was a connection between the Congo and Niger basins of western and central Africa. Tuckey sailed up the river from its mouth but found that the lower river is not navigable due to rapids (later called the Yellala Falls) above Matadi. He only found ruins of the Portuguese colony and moribund Catholic missions. He suggested sending Protestant missionaries to the Congo. He explored the river up to Isangila. Most of the officers and crew died of fever and Tuckey himself died on 14 October 1816, aged 40, in Moanda, on the coast of today's DR Congo. The expedition was a failure but raised interest in the exploration of Africa.
