  • It's a jungle out there
    Mandalay street corner reimagined by Joel Graham.

    "After listening a couple times, the motor bike (i think) seem to purr like a tiger to me. I bandpassed the upper frequencies to create animal and bird sounds. I added a track of regular bird song(my recording) to humanize (birdize?) the artifacts left from the filtering process. I used the whole original recording."

    "The horn sound (6.28) is the distinctive sound of the ice cream bike."

  • Kill The Bill protest, Parliament Square
    Recording by Bobby Jewell from the Kill The Bill protest in Parliament Square, London on 2 April 2021.

    Recording taken at London Day of Action, as part of National Weekend of Action in protest to the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill being pushed through by the UK Conservative government. The bill seeks to ban peaceful protest in an authoritarian clamp down on basic political freedoms in England and Wales. 

    The protest on Saturday 2 April in London featured a number of left wing groups and was predominantly led by young people. Despite being peaceful, good-natured and musical throughout the protest led to kettling, arrests and unnecessary violence by Metropolitan Police, including those of legal observers.

  • WDX - Tofux
    Tofu making in Taiwan reimagined by Dave Webb.

    "The original sound was short and rather lo-fi but I chopped out some loops and bass. 

    "I also added some sounds of me chopping up some tofu in my shed. Then looping, mixing and dubbing these sounds live with Ableton, a mixing desk and an array of outboard FX pedals."
