  • 2676: The Building of Future Cities
Toronto trams reimagined by Simon Woods.
"The piece is in three sections.
The initial section is piano and strings representing the present-day Toronto / Degrassi street. The trams and motorbike go by.
"This is followed by the ‘Building of Future Cities’ section of construction. The tram still goes by but now is a lot quicker.
"The final section returns to the initial theme but now piano and synths in a more modern style, representing the new future city. The tram still goes by but even faster. The motorbike is still at the same speed – the speed limits haven’t changed."

  • 2674: Interference under a Cover
Samarkand bazaar reimagined by Rohit Gupta.
"Through this piece I work on the idea of interference. Since the field recording I chose is of a closed market space (bazaar), it inspired me to think about how we bring personal into a public space and in turn it creates a complex space as a result of engagement of voices, sounds, expectations, curiosities etc with each other."

  • 2672: Budapest Tram Ride with Maria Ponce and Bassling
    Budapest tram reimagined by Bassling.
"Trams are a sound the signifies change in one the biggest cities near me, as this form of transport recently returned to the CBD of Sydney after nearly a century. The tram ride recording by Maria Ponce suggested a looped chord progression with a couple of stops and I kept myself to single trips with single takes on each instrument. Then afterwards I worked on keeping a sense of hopping on and off the tram."

  • 2667: The birds of Pompidou
Outside the Pompidou Centre in Paris, an old man with bags of food is feeding hundreds of birds, mostly pigeons and seagulls. As well as the usual bread, he has bags of seafood - the birds are climbing all over him, fighting each other and making an incredible amount of noise in what is clearly a very familiar ritual for both man and bird.
