  • 2304: Whitenights
    Reimagined by Daria Baiocchi.
"Whitenights a a composition based on the contraposition between birds sounds, human sounds (bells) and ice sounds. Birds sounds and human sounds come from a recording made by John Tollefsen in Norway. Ice sounds comes from a recording that I did with a hydrophone of melting ice. White nights refers to Dostoyevsky's short story published in 1848\. This is a story about love. I translated this into love for nature and for the environment."

  • 2303: An unsuccessful hunt
    Reimagined by Cities and Memory.
"This piece is a reflection on the impact humans are having on the fish eagles' natural habitat, which is forcing them to find new ways in which to feed themselves - in this case, by attacking and killing flamingoes which they are then often unable to feed upon as the prey is too large for them to carry away. This is a sonic reflection on one such unsuccessful hunt."

  • 2301: Hurricane Harvey (Andy Lyon reimagining)
    Reimagined by Andy Lyon.
"The recording was taken on a front porch during the massive and very damaging Hurricane Harvey and I've tried to capture some of the feelings, emotion and power unleashed by it. I've scoped the arrangement in Orb Composer and used Olafur Arnalds Chamber Evolutions and British Drama Toolkit (Spitfire Audio) for instrumentation and Synthmaster One (KV331 Audio) layered against the recording. I've also processed the recording with Palindrome (Glitchmachines) and SpecOps (Unfiltered Audio) and layered this against the recording too, the sound was shaped by numerous Eventide effects - Blackhole, TVerb, Ultratap, H949 Dual Harmoniser, Ultrachannel."

  • 2300: Procne Speaks
    Reimagined by Bronwen Livingstone.
"In the legend of the nightingale, Procne's sister Philomela is raped by Procne's husband Tereus, He then cuts out her tongue to silence her. When Procne learns what has happened, she enacts revenge by killing her own son, cooking his flesh and feeding it to Tereus. Tereus finds out and grabs an axe to kill both sisters, but in mercy the gods transform the sisters into birds. Philomela becomes the songless swallow while Procne is turned into a nightingale, singing a beautiful but sad song in remorse. The news today is full of women telling their stories of pain and abuse, and often they are disbelieved or ridiculed, sent messages of hate and threatened with violence. Procne's song is no longer a remorseful lament but angry, anguished and vehement as she sings on behalf of all the silenced and abused women. I took a beautiful recording of nightingales and slowed it down, sped it up, distorted, degraded, sampled, spliced and mulit-layered it to turn the gorgeous song of the nightingale into a dirty, uncomfortable, ugly scream of rage."

  • 2298: Frog Eyes
    Reimagined by Fereshteh Toosi.
"The intricacies of this field recording were completely mesmerizing for me. It was challenging to decide how to respond. I was impressed by the frogs' relentless chorus, the layers, and their unmatchable rhythm. The frog atmosphere has no edges, no beginning or ending. I wanted to play along with them, but I knew I couldn't keep up. I decided to drift on top of the clamor of voices. I listened to the recording while making electronic sounds in response, using a simple synthesizer. I also added a looping sample from "I only have eyes for you" by The Flamingos."

  • 2297: Hurricane Harvey
    Recorded by Timothy Grieve-Carlson.
"In the evening of Saturday, August 26, 2017, Hurricane Harvey brought a wave of strong thunderstorms into Houston before it eventually settled over the city for days of rain. As the thunder intensified, I placed a field recorder on my front porch. The recording sounds like a powerful storm in an urban area: thunder, wind, rain, and frogs, with the occasional car alarm and door slamming."
