  • 1854: Napping in Russian clouds
Datsan Rinpoche Bagsha temple reimagined by L. Boy Jr.
"To reinvent this atmosphere I used various samples, my Microkorg and some effects.
I wanted to work around the piano ritornello, take it in a cottony and ethereal climate. Satie is carried away by the Russian clouds!"

  • 1852: Mani Sithu Market (Andrulian reimagining)
Mani Sithu Market reimagined by Andy Lyon.
"My approach was to use processing and layering to capture the hustle and bustle of the market.
I cut the recording into sections, I processed the intro and outro with MangledVerb and the MoggerFogger delay in Hollyhock 3.
I've then chosen 4 parts to create a preset in Polygon and processed with SpecOps, MangledVerb and Ultratap. I've recorded the sound at 3 pitches, changed settings and recorded again, changed settings and recorded again. All of these were layered in Hollyhock 3 using volume curves to give movement.
I've also created a preset in Dust using the cut up recordings and processed with RP Verb 2 and Ultratap and played these during the recording.
All were processed with Litote and Type A - ( new vintage tape encoder by AudioThing) and then mastered in MuLab 7 using Elevate and Stage."

  • 1850: December in Mokolodi
Botswana nature reserve reimagined by Tim Waterfield.
"The track started with some editing of the audio in iZotope RX6 and then was imported into Studio One 3 hear multiple tracks were made with copies of the audio and this was then filtered to create the sounds bed. Melodyne was then used to extract midi information from audio that was used to drive the Lush-101 and Mai Tai synths both programmed with string style sounds. The last thing to add was a basic beat using Drumazon which was then filtered and distorted. Once all the elements were added I then mixed using Neutron to help add clarity to the mix and then mastered using Ozone.

  • 1846: Child reciting a mantra (Myanmar)
Children and chanting in Nyaung-U reimagined by Manja Ristic.
"Spatial sound imagination from the perspective of a child reciting Buddhist mantra was the starting point for my intuitive composing in developing this particular track.
Opening with cello solo reflects innocent and infantile voice, then progressing in to many lively children voices from the original Myanmar field recording.
The track is delivering dynamic, almost breathing, textural ambience extracted from dense frequencies produced with instruments and objects.
For example, an ambient is made out of a piano sequence placed in undefined reverberation, then I recorded my own breathing with contact mic getting pallet of tiny cracklings and micro-tonal noise. Other samples used are bowed ceramic vase and wind chimes also played by me. Cello solo is delivered by fantastic Serbian performer Ivana Grahovac."

  • 1847: The tension in the tunnel
Reimagined by Angeles Ruiz. "I was very much touched by this dramatic story and soon as I got the recording at home I started to work on a sound recreation. I used samples from my bank sound, and I edited the track with Logic using multiple effects, trying to reproduce the tension in the tunnel."
