Tonight's feature from the vinyl vault is entire first side of the Dylan classic. Enjoy! Tonight's edition is chock full of new releases goodness and is, as always, kumbaya-free! Check out the sneak peek at Vancouver Folk Fest. 2 1/2 hours of goodness, as several shows are on hiatus.

Thanks for listening, and keep in touch!
    cheers, val

Matthew, host of the fabulous Australian-Canadian music show "Stranded" on CiTR, sat in for me tonight. He even managed to get a fellow Aussie, Tom West, in for a live session. Enjoy, and see you all next week!

    Thanks for listening,

We report to SOCAN (performing rights organization, distributor of radio airplay royalties) quarterly, so I like to give love to our homegrown composers. 100% CanCon this evening, mostly new releases. Including a song for Palindrome Week!

Enjoy, and have a good long Victoria Day weekend, my fellow Canucks. Play safe!

Another extended edition (2 1/2 hours) of kumbaya-free folk, tonight with a Mother's Day theme. I interviewed Reid Jamieson and his wife Carolyn about their upcoming benefit on Sunday. Hope you enjoy tonight's tunes and don't forget to call *your* momma!

No interviews tonight, no live sessions on this extended edition of Folk Oasis. I did reach into our vinyl vaults for a Joni Mitchell masterpiece, and played side 2 of "Blue" in its entirety. Send her your healing thoughts! weloveyoujoni.com

Many new releases tonight, hope you enjoyed what I brought, and thanks so much for listening!

Happy Earth Day! We embraced our inner hippie with appropriately-themed (but kumbaya-free) tunes. Two interviews tonight: first with Scott Shea, who's currently touring Canada with his first solo album. Later in the show I chatted with Melissa Bandura, aka Familiar Wild, who's hosting a benefit April 23 for Mid-Main Community Health Centre.

Take care, hugs all around, and many thanks for listening! Hope you enjoy this podcast.

My apologies for technical glitches and strange noises which occurred during tonight's broadcast. Ghosts in the machines, I'm convinced! In any case, I hope you enjoy an eclectic music mix which includes a Newfoundlander on accordion, a Malian on guitar, and an Acadian on vocals.

Joining me live in the studio tonight were local troubador Rodney Decroo, accompanied by upright bass player Mark Haney. We heard some exquisite tunes from Rodney's latest album.

To those who celebrate/partake, a happy 4-20! Spark 'em if you got 'em. ;-)

I'm back from a great few days in Portland, OR. Hope you all got up to something fun over Easter weekend?
In any case, here's tonight's 2 hours of eclectic folk/roots music, in all its splendour. Mostly new and Canadian, with nods eastward to Austin and Eastern Europe. I chatted early in the show with Montreal blues artist Michael Jerome Browne, who's about to start a Western Canadian tour.
Enjoy! And thanks, as always, for listening.

    cheers, val

Another lovely spring evening on the West Coast: hope this finds you dear listeners all well and in fine fettle. Tonight's Vinyl Vault was dedicated to Joni Mitchell, still in hospital at the time of this writing, and was side 2 of her debut LP. I also had a chance to chat with Oliver Swain, multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire from Vancouver Island, about his project "Tower of Song", a tribute to Leonard Cohen. He's taking it on tour this spring, starting with a Centennial Theatre (North Van) show April 10.

Have a lovely Easter weekend, all, and I'll be back next week with 2 more kumbaya-free hours!

    cheers, and thanks for listening.

Happy 6th day of spring! (how are you liking it so far?) Today I dug into the vinyl library and pulled out a classic Canadian folk album from 1973, "Coast to Coast Fever" by David Wiffen. Hope you enjoy it and the usual eclectica that filled the rest of my two hours. Wishing you well and thanking you for your support, I remain,

    Val.
