You're listening to this after the fact of course, but October 22 was a difficult day for all Canadians. A few of tonight's selections reflect this programmer's mood. Mostly I brought you tunes from artists who will be playing in Vancouver in the near future. Please enjoy, and please do support live music and live musicians! Tonight's interview was with violin player Chris McKhool of Toronto ensemble Sultans of String. They will be performing with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra this weekend. Good stuff!

Thanks so much for listening...stay warm, stay safe, and keep your loved ones close.

Slowly working my way through the pile of new releases that came across my desk recently. So many good tunes! Hope you enjoy tonight's eclectic two hours.
It's been awhile, but I did a live phone interview, with Kitchener, ON artist Lynn Jackson. She is currently touring Western Canada solo, with a couple of upcoming dates in the Vancouver area. Check her out at www.lynnjackson.net

Rain is in our local forecast: if it's in yours as well, please stay warm and dry! And crank up the CiTR tunes. Thanks so much for listening, and hope you will join me next week.

    Cheers,

I'm back from Europe! Part of me still on a warm beach on the Greek Islands, but also happy to be sleeping in own bed again. Lots of new music tonight! As well as a taste of Greece, and a little Kate Bush.

It's Thanksgiving day Monday here in Canada, so I hope you'll have a chance to be with loved ones and, well, give thanks.

Take care, and I thank you all for listening!

    Cheers, Val

Thanks to Matt of CiTR's Stranded (Australian-Canadian music) for filling in this week. He did a great job, and I see from playlist there is a feature interview with one of my fave Aussie artists, Paul Kelly!
I'm uploading this from Athens airport, on way to Netherlands and home on Oct. 5. Tune in next week and I shall have some tales to tell!
Take care, thanks for listening, and hope you've enjoyed the last 3 'relief pitchers'. :)

Many thanks to Gary (aka GAK) from Exploding Head Movies for filling in this week. I see from his playlist that he took up my "Greek" challenge. Also featured, an interview with Fish and Bird, and I think one with Duncan McHugh.
Special extended version - 3 hours of folky goodness. Enjoy! And as always, thanks for listening.

I'm away in the UK and Greece until October, and apparently this show has gone "to the birds"! Thanks to Paul Norton (Code Blue) for filling in and providing an interesting playlist. Indeed the birds are chirping here today in Oxted, Surrey (currently in a pub on their wifi) as Scotland remains a part of the United Kingdom. Cheerio all and thanks for listening!

Tonight we had the honour of a live session with Steve Normandin, an amazing accordéoniste from Montréal. He will be at this weekend's Accordion Noir Festival. Organizer and squeezebox afficionado Rowan Lipkovits gave us the lowdown on the fest: http://accordionnoirfest.com
    Good squeezins!
Hope you enjoyed tonight's show. If you did, please continue to spread the good word! Much love to all. Enjoy the rest of the summer, and be sure to tune in for special guest hosts during the next 3 shows. In a few days I'll be off to Europe..

Welcome back students*! Another two hours of eclectic folk tunes this week, no interviews. Featured festival is Victoria's Rifflandia, which takes place Sept. 11-14. Lots of other local shows on the calendar, so we concentrated on those. Please support live music and live musicians! On the moon phase front: Sept. 8 is the harvest moon, and a supermoon to boot!

Hope you enjoy tonight's show, and thanks for listening! Please feel free to get in touch, and have a great week.

    cheers, val

On the last of Vancouver's hot August nights, music to soothe, inspire, cool your furrowed brow! Long weekend is coming up..whether you're at the PNE, Bumbershoot, or (this week's featured fest) the True North Fraser Bluegrass Festival...have a good one, eh?
Elvis Costello turned 60 (!) this week, which calls for a musical tribute. Hope you enjoy tonight's show: if you did, please pass the word around! We love and depend on you talking us up.
Safe weekend, and thanks for listening.

Welcome to another two eclectic kumbaya-free hours of folk/roots music! Tonight I had a chat with local singer-songwriter (and leader of Kingsgate Chorus) Jenny Ritter. Also in the mix: a volcano song, a baseball set, and new protest music from old Vancouver reprobate Art Bergmann! It's all good. Please enjoy, and I welcome your feedback!
Take care and enjoy the rest of your week. Thanks for listening!
