Basketball suffered a tough weekend sweep to Calgary, but the cross country the USPORTS season came to a close on a high, and most importantly, the women’s soccer team RALLIED TO WIN THE CROWN while the men's side bowed out in the first round.

It’s time for the true vikings, the go-getters, and the champions to shine while all the others fade. It’s women’s rugby and both soccer teams who were still battling in the playoffs while rowing and swimming dominated the waterways, basketball swept its competition, volleyball and hockey shared split results between the men and women, and golf got hot in Arizona.

It’s Halloween, and it is playoff season for soccer and women’s rugby. While Friday brought success for most of the UBC soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming and hockey teams, Saturday was a different story. Then on Sunday through Wednesday the T-birds rebounded with UBC women’s rugby playing their long awaited USPORTS matchup.

Sports calendars begin to overlap as volleyball and basketball are now underway, meanwhile women’s rugby made some playoff history. There was also UBC rowing meet, a baseball game, a football win, some hockey redemption, a mediocre weekend for soccer, and a big announcement from ex-UBC and olympian swimmer Brent Hayden!

UBC's soccer and men's rugby sides traveled to the Island to take on the Victoria Vikes while men’s basketball surged to a 1-1 in the Calgary Cup, hockey struggled to regain its composure on the road, and cross country failed to place high as a team in Bellingham, Washington.

UBC football has won, and really, so did everyone else (except for women’s hockey). We also cover volleyball, basketball, rugby, golf, soccer, field hockey, and rowing, all of whom performed well over the weekend.
