We're starting a new series which will take us through the Advent season. It's 5 weeks of 5 stories that paved the way for Jesus tp be born in Bethlehem.

This week we're looking at the incredible story of a wise woman from the east named Rehab. God positioned her exactly where He wanted her to be to save not only her, but her whole family, and a whole nation. And we'll see why Rahab is remembered as a beautiful example of faith in action.

Jesus is coming! Not to a stall in Bethlehem this time, but on a day not to far from now, the whole world will see Him. Some will be ready, others not. And just like when a surge of electricity shows up at your home--it's important that when Jesus comes--we're all grounded. Not shifting a millimetre from our hope in the Gospel.

This Sunday we're wrapping up our series in 2 Peter talking about how to stay grounded as we wait for Christ's return. And how the wedding that's coming motivates us to action.

The Second Coming of Jesus. The End of Days. The Day of the Lord. We don't know when He's coming--just that He will. And that means good news and vindication for everyone who believes in Jesus. But it also means bad news and judgment for everyone who doesn't.

While there are people a bit too focused on the "end times," I find that many of the Christians I know ignore it altogether. We live as if the world as we know it will go on forever. But the Bible paints a clear picture of the future that's coming-- and it changes the way we look at the world, our neighbours, and ourselves. It changes our focus. Like people who know their time is short.

Life is war. If you have declared your allegiance to Christ and His kingdom, there's a battle being waged for your soul. It's a battle that Christ has already won, but there are days when it doesn't feel like it. 

Every morning we wake up wondering if the breaking news overnight is big enough to disrupt our lives. The news cycle, as they call it, seems to be getting darker and crazier all the time. But has it always been this way? And will it always be this way?

The Gospel is good news in a world of breaking bad news. And the truth of the Gospel is that one day, Jesus himself will break into the news cycle and bring an end to all sin, evil, war and disease. But what does that mean for us now? How does the reality of the final judgment that's coming change our posture when facing the joys and sorrows of life? Peter wants you to have hope. Hope that is stronger than anything else you've been promised.

Heresies exist, and are more pervasive, appealing and damaging than you might think... but Jesus is our real hope, solid defense, and great rescuer.

One of the dangers we face when following Jesus is the danger of drifting off to sleep--spiritually speaking. We might be able to coast along for awhile without much thought, until disaster strikes out of seemingly nowhere.

Peter wrote a letter from jail to people he loved so much because he wanted them to wake up. And not just by his own words, but by all the words that God spoke. We have access to those words too. And they hold the key to waking us up from our spiritual drowsiness.

Eternal life begins the moment we die and shuck off our earth suit and fly away to be with Jesus in heaven. Or does it? What if eternal life began the moment you first believed in Jesus and were saved by His power and grace?

This Sunday, Joel Ramsey will be bringing us the second instalment in our series in 2 Peter--Grounded. What does it mean to be grounded in life and godliness? Is it really possible to become more like Jesus and what is your role in your own transformation? If you want to experience more confidence in God and His work in you, then this message is one you'll want to hear.

We're getting stuck into the last letter Peter wrote before he died. He's writing to remind us of the truth that keeps us from getting blown over by the winds of culture and desire.
