This Sunday Caleb Turko joins us from Anchor Church Port Adelaide

John told us why he wrote his gospel. He wants you to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. And then to have life in his name. So why do you suppose the first "sign" he records to prove Jesus's true identity is the time he served some really nice wine at a wedding?
This Sunday Caleb Turko joins us from Anchor Church Port Adelaide to explore this question and much more.

There was a time when the God of the universe, who lives in unapproachable light, did not exist in human form. The only way a person could get close to God was through the high priest, who served in the presence of God at the temple in Jerusalem.

One night in a town not far from the temple, everything changed. God came down. He took on human flesh and blood. He moved into our neighbourhood. How did he do it, and more importantly, why? Why does the eternal Son of God, the One who created the universe, have fingernails like us? Might his flesh be the thing that convinces us that he doesn't just love us, He actually likes us?

The night that Jesus was born, light from heaven filled the sky. Wherever Jesus went, there was light. Whoever has Jesus has light. Light that illuminates. Light that enlivens our souls. Light that exposes secrets.

Light is necessary for life, but it can also be scary if we're not content with life as it currently is. The light of Christ doesn't just show us how things are and leave us there. The light of Christ overcomes. The light of Christ brings new life. This is John's message that we'll unpack this week as we continue our journey in this epic Gospel.

Eternal life. The most famous verse in the whole Bible says that anyone who believes in Jesus will not die but have eternal life. We were meant to live and not die. And not just to live, but to live forever, basking in the joy of togetherness with the God who loves us.

This Sunday we kick off our epic journey through the Gospel of John where we explore this question--what does it mean to live forever? And why is Jesus so determined to give us that gift? This week we go all the way back to the beginning of time to start our quest for joy.

This Sunday we get to celebrate together what God has done at CityLight South Church over the past four years. We'll wrap up our Belong series with a look at the first and last weddings in the Bible--and the good news that we get to be a part of the big one that's coming. This Sunday is all about joy in Jesus, the bridegroom.
