Hello Dear Listeners,
Joining this week's show is Janet Brown, a Pollster and Political Commentator from Alberta with Opinion Research. Janet has done some recent polling for CUPE Saskatchewan and has a wealth of experience with polling and all things politically related - particularly in Alberta. Her accuracy in polling and related research is renowned. Janet is sought after by media and various agencies and organizations across Canada and beyond.
Joining Janet are seasoned panel members: James Yachyshen, a known Conservative pundit who recommended Janet Brown for this show (thanks James); Samantha Yaholnitsky of Momentum Strategy, a real time hired gun for campaigns in Saskatchewan happening right now; and, Dale Richardson of Earnscliffe Strategies, who comes with a big tickle trunk of politico experience.
We talk recent polling information done by Janet and then dig deeper into what we can learn from other elections. And, we discuss what still may be at play in Saskatchewan. Learn more about terms like the mushy middle, orphans, October Surprises, Bozo Eruptions (look this term up), and signage (Janet and a colleague have studied this in depth).
A fascinating episode. We go a little longer with a special bonus edition available to podcast subscribers.

Dear Civically Speaking Listeners,
We go behind the ballot during this episode with some field research into the campaign offices of mayoral candidates, Cynthia Block and Gordon Wyant. We sit down with their campaign managers respectively, Rebecca and Samantha.
I am also planning on reaching out to the other mayoral candidate offices for some behind the scenes sound bites - - as well as reaching out randomly to some of the various council candidates to see how things are going.
You get a feel for each of their campaigns. What I failed to mention was that in Gordon Wyant's office was also busy. Sam was fielding calls while I was there; and the candidate himself showed up to pick up some items as he headed off to door knock with an old class mate who had offered themselves to volunteer.
Wyant's office is located in Riversdale on 20th Street; Cynthia Block's campaign office is located downtown on 21st Street.
Have a listen to the interviews - I was struck by many similarities in what they shared about their operations, challenges and opportunities.
Stay tuned. Always a pleasure. Happy post Gobbles. Regrets from Christina Cherneskey - we are ships in the night these days.

Hello Dear Listeners,
Apologies for the late release this week. We have mayoral candidate interviews running in back to back shows on CFCR's air time this week and last; so, this show is officially being uploaded and counted as a direct to podcast version of Civically Speaking.
Popular guest co-host, Dale Richardson, of Earnscliffe Strategies and The SKoop Political Briefing, joins Christina and I, as we unpack some of the behind the scenes processes that go on within both parties as they officially get underway in a 'close' election this Fall 2024. E-day being on October 28.
We also review some of the key political issues we can expect (or not) this election.
Have a listen. Share with others. Spread the word.
And please note, it's so awesome when folks support local media especially shows like this and community radios that air such shows in addition to having it 'air' here - so - donate to cfcr.ca if you haven't already as part of the FM-Phasis campaign.
Thanks for tuning in.

Hello Dear Listeners,
It's a pleasure and an honour to host this show. This particular episode will air on Tuesday, Oct 1, 2024, on CFCR.ca 90.5 at 6:30 pm. As a podcast listener, you will have access to this recording at the same time you have access to the first two mayoral candidate interviews that will be airing on September 24. 2024.
In this episode are featured respective interviews with candidates Don Atchison and Cary Tarasoff. In the earlier episode you will hear respectively from Cynthia Block and Gordon Wyant.
These interviews were recorded separately and followed the same semi-structured format. Regrets from Christina Cherneskey on episodes done with Cary Tarasoff and Don Atchison where she was not able to be present.
Apologies for the sound quality of the interview with Don Atchison, it was phone interview. Did our best to bring up the audio levels - so please be sure to turn up the dial as required.
Thank you to all the candidates for giving us their time. Much appreciation. And most importantly, thank you for tuning into shows like this - where we aim to provide important exercising in civic democracy

Hello Folks,
Oooh my goodness, Fall season, and it is starting out FAST...too fast...including uploading today's episode. Thanks ST for letting me know the incorrect episode was uploaded.
In this episode James Yachyshen and I debrief the first Saskatoon Mayoral Forum held on August 29th - co-hosted by myself and Christina from Civically Speaking and our colleagues from Voice of Saskatoon, Anika Mysha, Rashid Ahmed, and Madhurja Ghosh together with Rogers local community radio station. Oh what fun it was fielding questions to each of the mayoral candidates, Don Atchison, Cynthia Block, Cary Tarasoff and Gordon Wyant.
We then turn to Saskatchewan provincial politics in part 2 and check in on the latest happening during this pre election season.
It's worth a listen. Please share with others and support local media and community radio shows just like this.
