Clare County Council has been asked to explain the rationale behind its decision to acquire two separate sites at the Cliffs of Moher in 2023 at a cost of €8 million.

The purchase came to light at last month’s meeting of the local authority.

This week, a joint motion has been tabled by 12 councillors calling for the statutory basis, governance procedure and rationale underpinning the purchase to be explained.
