Mike Vanderbilt wraps up his stint here on The Summer of ’82 at 40 music video series. We discuss The Motels’ “Only the Lonely”. You may ask “Who are The Motels?” Well, look up “Suddenly Last Summer” and you go “Ahhhhh, ok!”.

This video was done by the director of Highlander, which I believe we’ve done some from him before. It’s an interesting little noir throwback gem that has been given credit for the reason the song became a hit. One of the earliest instances of video pushing a song into more popularity.
