Today, I am joined by my friend and fellow mediator, Mark D. Bennett, to talk about his newest book, "Uniting by Design: the Architecture of Creative Collaboration for Organizations…Teams…and Groups.
"The process of uniting and dividing is as old as human history. However, the stakes have never been this great. We must face what divides us and come together in the organizations in every community that are essential to the health of civil society. Design principles, core values, and shared practices enable us to swim together with strong, confident strokes in the seas of anxiety and uncertainty." [Uniting by Design Introduction excerpt]

Welcome to “Your Boundaries Create Your Reality” - Episode 20 of Co-creating Peace – a series about conscious communication and conflict transformation. I’m Kathleen Oweegon.
We all have boundaries, although we often don’t recognize them until someone crosses them. When our boundaries are crossed, upset and conflict often result. In this episode, I’ll talk about how defining, articulating and holding our boundaries, as well as honoring other people’s boundaries, supports peace, well-being and positive relationships in our lives.

Welcome to “Set the Tone, Change the Experience” - Episode #19 of Co-creating Peace – a series about conscious communication and conflict transformation.
In any dynamic, someone sets the tone – consciously or unconsciously. The tone that is set has a powerful influence on what happens next and what the outcome will be. Setting the tone is a vital part of Conscious Communication! In today’s episode, I’ll share some thoughts with you on mindfully setting the tone for the kinds of experiences you want to create with other people. I have a little recipe for that, which I’ll share with you as well.

Welcome to “Re-humanizing One Another” - Episode 18 of Co-creating Peace – a series about conscious communication and conflict transformation.
Today’s topic relates in many ways to what I spoke about in last week’s episode, which was the frame of reference in which we see one another, and which we sometimes lock people into in our mind. One frame in which we often see and entrap others is in the role they have in our life or in our experience.
Have you ever noticed how often we see other people as a role, rather than as a person? When we do that, we objectify and dehumanize them. We write a story in our mind about them based on whatever role we see them in, rather than to see them as who they truly are and learn their story from them.
Whether it’s because of the color of their skin, their ethnic origin, their gender, their beliefs, their profession, or their relationship to us – there are so many reasons that we dehumanize each other, and so many more reasons why we should – instead – re-humanize one another. In this episode, we’ll explore that.

Welcome to “Stuck in the Frame” - Episode 17 of Co-creating Peace – a series about conscious communication and conflict transformation.
We all have a frame of reference through which we see the world. This frame dramatically affects the opinions we form, and can make it difficult for us to see things any other way than through our frame. Today, we’re going to explore that phenomenon, how it affects our relationships, and contributes to creating and perpetuating conflict.
