Coach Carter: Compete with the Stack

Coach Ralph is the HC at New Palestine in Indiana. Coach has won back to back state championships in 2018-2019 as well as another in 2014. In 2019, his team held opponents to 8.8 ppg. Coach was an All ACC Offensive Lineman at North Carolina. I have been following Coach Ralph for a long time, and this was a great opportunity to dive into his philosophy of the 3-3 Stack. Coach Gibbs is also apart of USA football and was the Head Coach of the Japan National team. Coach Gibbs will dive into the 3 high safety structure and how he will send pressure out of it. On this episode of "Compete with the Stack", we have Tucker HS Head Coach, Bryan Lamar. Coach Lamar has a 80-24 record, won 4 region championships, 2016 state finalist, and 2016 Atlanta Falcons Coach of the Year. He also helped the Tigers to the 2008 State Championship as the Defensive Coordinator. Coach Lamar has been in the stack since 2007. I remember some battles at defensive camp with his teams. Coach Kyle Coats is a defensive analyst at the University of Texas, Hook'em Horns. Coach Coats was previously the DC at East Texas Baptist University and spent time as Hardin- Simmons University. UT competes in the Spread Conference of American, the Big 12. Coach Coats shares his knowledge of secondary play in the 3 high safety defense and his thoughts on 3 over/ 3 under Coverage. Coach is one of the best defensive line coaches/teachers I have every been around. His ability to teach technique and to get his players to run through a wall is unmatched. On this episode we are joined by Coach Gess, the Head Coach at Eagles Landing Christian Academy. Coach Guess has a 144-28 record as the HC at ELCA with 9 region and 6 state championships. His program began running the 3-3 stack in 2012, the first state championship under Coach Gess. He dives into how they teach cover 3, LB zone read fits, and RPO from 2x2 and 3x1. 

On this episode of Compete with the Stack, we have Coach Andy Scott. He is the current DC at Hiram HS, former HC at Kennesaw Mountain. His philosophy of the stack is completely different than mine, so I was pumped when he agreed to join us. He will talk about LB reads/fits and then jump into how he uses 4,5,6 man pressure as his base defense. I hope you enjoy, I know I did. 

This episode features Coach Mike Adams, Assistant Football Coach at Mercer University. Coach Adams previously served as DC at Charleston Southern. He was the Linebackers (2014) and Safeites (2015-16) at South Alabama. Before going to USA, he was the DC at South Carolina State. In 2010, his defense led the nation in total defense, rush defense, and passing defense. He was a finalist for FCS DC of the year in 2013.
