Hi all!
Click below for Coaching with the Bible Series 2 Episode 4.
This week's topic: Alignment
Let's change it up a bit and use a quote to start us off:
‘How we think of ourselves (our self-image) and how we behave in accordance with that image in the real world is the stuff of congruence. It’s one of the most profoundly powerful drives we have as humans – to live in consistent alignment with who we think we are, how we want others to perceive us, and who we want to become. When we don’t behave as the person we believe ourselves to be, we feel “off”, “out of sorts” and often frustrated or angry. If we think we’re lions, for example, but we act as mice, we secretly loathe ourselves.’ – Brendon Burchard
THAT is our topic for today!
See you inside and as always, Happy Learning!
Hi All!
Season 2 Episode 3 is here! Our topic this week Lech Lecha: On Conflict Resolution
We are delving ever so briefly into the fight between the shepherds of Lot and Abraham and learning a powerful lesson in how to quickly and effectively both manage and end conflict.
See you inside!
As always, happy learning!
Hi all!
Season 2 Episode 2 is here!
Our topic this week: Communication Breakdown
Ask yourself:
Enjoy and Happy learning!
Hi all!
Welcome to Season 2 of Coaching with the Bible! Excited to be back for more!
This week we delve into the story of Cain and discuss the moment when it all goes 'south' for him. No, not when he (Spoiler alert!) kills his brother, Abel, but before it when God seems to reject his offering/gift.
Have you ever been knocked down? Well, then you know how Cain must feel. The question is, what did you do next? How did you handle being down? THAT is our focus this week!
We'll meet some (surprising) but well-known 'philosophers' of the 60s thru 90s and beyond, and of course hear from a variety of biblical commentaries along the way.
Exciting stuff!
Happy learning and if you enjoyed this week's or any of the past episodes please share with friends, family, etc.
Hi all!
Welcome to Episode #54 and the completion of Series 1 of Coaching With The Bible!
When we started 1 year ago I had hoped we'd get here, and with but one exception when I was late with an episode, here we are! Cycle DONE. YR 1 GOAL ACCOMPLISHED!!!
Thanks to everyone who joined along the way, who listened each week, commented, shared ideas and resources, and more than anything encouraged me to keep going (and improve, of course!). I appreciate all of you and thank all of you.
I cannot wait to begin Series #2, next week, with our return to Genesis. Exciting!
This week we tap into an important topic: Personal Red Lines. 'Red Lines' are the boundaries we place in our lives across which we do not cross, ever. Our time this week is a look at an act of valor, risk, heroism on the part of Moses, the core principle that act teaches us, and then the question about our own 'red lines'. We will get into a discussion about the development of our moral and core values and how we can continue to work on them as we continue to work on ourselves.
Enjoy and Happy Learning!
Hi all!
I hope those of you celebrating and fasting on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, had a most inspiring and meaningful day. A quick(er) than usual episode for this week on a topic I MUST return to during Series 2.
Looking forward to a great holiday of Sukkot beginning Monday evening.
Shabbat Shalom and Happy Holiday to all who are celebrating.
How's your momentum today???
Hi all!
Episode 52 is here!
This week: On Forgiveness
A slight departure from our usual dissection of a subject that is based on the weekly reading of the Torah and instead, a topic that is timely to the holiday of Yom Kippur: Forgiveness.
So, my question of the week: How forgiving are you? When someone (friend, relative, co-worker) wrongs you, how quick are you to not only NOT just blame, yell, argue, fight, etc, but rather to forgive?
Not an easy question to answer (especially if we are being truly honest with ourselves), but one we need to take quite seriously all the time and in particular at this time of the year with the New Year just ushered in and Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) ahead of us.
Take a few (extra) minutes this week to explore this topic and let's get to working forgiving others!
Shana Tova, Happy New Year, and may you be fully sealed in the Book of Life!
Hi All!
Episode #51 is here. This week we discuss a timely topic: Repentance.
With the Jewish New Year upon us in just a few days, our minds are a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. One of the many things we are thinking about and perhaps actively working on is repenting for all that we may have done wrong during the past year. Repentance as a commandment is beautiful, if somewhat difficult to fulfill.
We often feel a sense of guilt about all of the 'bad' we may have done, and then feel guilty about the guilt and about the repenting, and so on and so on! It's hard!
This week, I want to delve a bit into the benefit of the repentance process and take a moment to zoom in on two things:
Apologizing is a key ingredient to successful/proper repentance.
Happy Learning!
2 last items:
Hi all!
We have reached a milestone: Episode 50!!!
Thanks to all of you who have listened over the last almost 50 weeks and have encouraged, commented, questioned, and critiqued my words. I appreciate all of you and I am incredibly grateful to you for taking some time to learn and think along with me each week.
This week: Ki Tavo: On Happiness!
Happy Learning!
(also, remember to download the Personal Annual Review from earlier this week. I recommend it!)
Hey! This is a SPECIAL EDITION of Coaching with the Bible!
That's right! Episode #49 is coming to you early in the week (no worries, there will be another later this week) because we have an important matter to discuss: YOU
The High Holidays are fast approaching, 2 weeks from today and we need to get to work on: YOU
How often have I reviewed myself in the same way that probably happens at work (annual performance review) or happened to me as a kid in school (test or semester report card)?
My guess is probably never.
Yes, on occasion when we say or do something we shouldn't have said or done, we'll look back on it and feel bad, maybe even apologize. A full-scale personal review of everything? Not likely.
No worries, that was my answer too! (until now!)
But to quote a world-class coach, John Wooden: 'Without proper self-evaluation failure is inevitable.'
I invite you to take a listen to this special episode focused on 'the what, the why, and the how' of a personal annual review, and then below I share a special link to your first 'personal annual review'.
As always, we'll begin with the current week's Torah reading and work from there to our own lives.
This week, different than before, I'm asking you to share:
The more people who work through this the better their upcoming year will be and by extension, the better all of us will be.
Happy Learning and Growing!
