Jonah complains to God about how He is treating the Ninevites. Jonah tells God that he knew that God would save the Ninevites from destruction because of His character. Aren't you glad that we serve a God that is a compassionate, merciful, patient, loving God that does not treat us the way we deserve- Every single person who chooses to become a follower of Jesus enters this relationship because of God's grace. We don't deserve this gift of salvation, and God freely offers it to everyone.

Revival breaks out in Nineveh and the people repent of their sins. When a person chooses to follow Jesus, that person is to respond to their sin just as the Ninevites responded to theirs. Maybe not by wearing sackcloth, but there needs to be that turning away from sin and turning towards God. This needs to take place both inwardly and publicly.

God hits the reset button, and commands Jonah to go to Nineveh again. This time, Jonah obeys. We need to stop being like Jonah, judging unbelievers, and proclaim boldly to them the Gospel of Jesus.
