Ruth 1-4Pastor Jake continues teaching about the Hewbrew concept of Hesed and how it can be fleshed out in our lives. Hear about the way the people around Naomi, and Naomi herself, express God's hesed towards one another and it results in a beautiful redemption story.

Genesis 12:1-7 and 15:1-20The Hebrew word "Hesed" is used often in the Old Testament to speak of God's love for His people. In this sermon you'll learn about the meaning of God's "Hesed" and see it illustrated in God's covenant with Abram and Sarai.

Colossians 3:5-14, 1 Corinthians 9:19-23In this message we talk about some of the basic expectations of those who are a part of Coast Community. At a foundational level we will be a church whose people are committed to both growing and going. Pastor James closes his talk with a celebration of our two mission teams headed out this week; one to run in the LA 13.1 half-marathon to benefit World Vision clean water projects, and one to Guatemala.

John 1:1-14In this Christmas Day message, we are reminded of the truth and beauty of three words the story of Christ's birth speaks; incarnation, revelation, and adoption. What does God want to say to each of us with these three words?

Luke 1:26-38In this message we reflect on the conversation between the angel Gabriel and Mary, when she is told that she will give birth to Jesus. Mary's response provides a model for every follower of Jesus, quick to obey and ready and willing to trust in God "more than her eyes could see."

John 1:6-8, 19-28On this third Sunday of Advent we discover that John the Baptist came not only with a message, but as a model for those who would follow after him. Just as he came as a witness to testify concerning the Light of Christ that was coming into the world, we too are called to be witnesses in the world in which we live.

Mark 1:1-8One of the great traditions of the Christmas season is "getting ready for company" -- cleaning out the clutter and decorating our houses so that visitors will feel welcome and at home. This is a picture of what we do during the season of Advent as well, for it is in these weeks that we are especially attuned to preparing our hearts for Jesus to come to us in new and fresh ways at Christmas. Are you ready for company?

Mark 13:24-37On this first Sunday of Advent we reflect on the hope of Jesus' second coming. Though we cannot understand every detail, we can affirm this important teaching of Scripture and consider the ways this belief influences our lives today. This is the first in a four-part Advent Series called "Illuminate."

Jeremiah 46-52In this, the final sermon in our fall series on the book of Jeremiah, we consider Jeremiah's "Oracles Against the Nations" and are reminded that God is not only the Lord of Israel and Judah, but the Lord of the whole world. Listen to hear more about this God we've "run into" here in Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 39-46In the aftermath of the fall of Jerusalem at the hands of the Babylonian invaders, these chapters reveal an even greater enemy, that which came from within the hearts of God's chosen people. Here is a portrait of a culture in complete disarray, a people suffering the consequences for refusing to listen to God. May these stories remind us of our own capacity for sin and rebellion and call us instead to a culture of confession and transformation.
