Matt, Diane, Dylan and Alex have come to the heart of Seaside to rescue human hostages and capture Asmund Strom. But Matt must first destroy the dullahan---even though Asmund is threatening to drown the hostages if Matt doesn't toss his weapons and any gold he's carrying into the Necanicum River. Matt, Diane, Ian and Cory search in vain for the dullahan. When it doesn't appear, Matt isn't sure what lure will draw it out of hiding. But when Dylan calls to report that Asmund Strom has appeared in Seaside and has taken hostages, Matt must abandon the search and return to town. Somehow, he must defeat Asmund---even though Asmund is using his music to hold the hostages captive on the bridge over the Necanicum River, and can drown them all with just a handful of notes.
