In this episode we discuss what it means to be educated around intimacy and sex. Gerhard shares about his experience in the church and how that played a part in the shame he carried around sex.
Vanessa shares her experience educating herself about sex and how most of the education came from white spaces. All this information really helped her however it was hard at times to relate.
We hope you enjoy this podcast just as much as we loved recording it.

Eve shares her own experience reconnecting with her culture after spending 8 years living in Perth and how reconnecting with her culture has created a business model that reflects Te Ao Maori and the challenges that come with that.
She also touched on fears around niching, what a safe space can look like for Indigenous women, decolonising our minds and connection to identity.

We recorded a podcast in October 2019 about intimacy in the home. Gerhard and I have recently been through a little journey of our own which has awakaned us both sexualy which is why we are re recording this episode.
We share what we believed sex was before meeting each other and how that played out in our partnership. We share what has worked for us over the years and some of the truths we have come to over the last few months.
We are both coming to realise that sex is life force and something we will always make a priority as we do life together. We touch a bit on sexual shame which I know many of our Maori and Island community hold because of religion, cultural conditioning, society and also sexual trauma.
We are not sex educators but we have journed very deeply with intimacy and we can only share what is true for us.
I sat down with Amber Puku to talk about her story and what lead her to receiving her moko kauae. Amber takes us on a beautiful journey into her childhood where she speaks about growing up both Pakeha and Maori, the effect her trauma had on her and how she could relate more in Te Ao Wairua (the spiritual world).
She shares of her hikoi going back home to speak to her Kaumatua and the challenges that came with asking for permission to receive.
Amber shares some bomb as advice for those approaching wahine with moko kauae! It starts with "Kia Ora..."
This episode was inspired by Men's Health Week and gave Gerhard and I the opportunity to reflect on his experience with anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation.
Gerhard shares his definition and belief of what masculinity is and how it has shaped the way he views mental health.
Shit gets pretty emotional towards the end as we reflect on the friends and family we have lost to suicide.
If you or someone you know is going through this please get reach out to someone and share! Telling someone can be the hardest part but know that you are loved and you can work through this.
