Then Amy Domini of Domini Funds joins CODEPINK's Jodie Evans to discuss how philanthropic and investment foundations can choose to divest from weapons and continue to demilitarize the world we live in. This week guest Carlos Lazo of Building Bridges joins Teri Mattson to talk about his 3,000 mile cycling trip from Seattle to Washington DC. As a Cuban-American, Carlos and several family members rode across the United States to bring awareness of the need to restore trade and diplomatic relations between the two countries including lifting the 60 year embargo. Pierre Labossier of Haiti Action Committee joins the program for the second half hour for a brief discussion on Haitian history and its importance for democracy throughout the hemisphere including the end of neo-colonialism/neoliberalism. We also discuss the expansion of UNIFA (University of the Foundation Aristide) into a teaching hospital as a response to COVID-19.
This week Tobita Chow, of Justice is Global, joins CODEPINK cofounder, Jodie Evans in a discussion on how peace activists are striving to deescalate rising tensions between the US and China. On the second part of the show, Jodie Evans and Margaret Kimberley of Black Agenda Report, explore how to disrupt that messaging of hate and lies directed at China and build bridges of Peace.
This week James Zogby, founder and president of the Arab American Institute and former member of the DNC Executive Committee, joins CODEPINK’s Ariel Gold to discuss the 2020 DNC draft platform and how it address Palestinian rights. On the second part of the show, she talks to Saudi legal scholar Abdullah Alaoudh about the shifting sands in the Saudi regime as the king's health declines and MbS is soon to take the crown.
What is going on in Portland? This week we talk to two activists on the ground in Portland, OR, Cody Urban from CODEPINK and Tiffany Tag from Bayan Portland. They'll discuss how local activists are responding to the presence of militarized police forces, including unmarked Federal agents and a local campaign to end Portland State University's relationship with Boeing. The second half of the show features clips from Ariel's webinar with Amer Zahr of a funeral for the two-state solution.
