CNBC writes that Twitch declined to say whether the ambassadors would be paid. Paid ethics teams have often been cut back as tech companies have tightened their belts over the past couple of years.

The jurors said they unanimously agreed that Trump falsified business records to conceal a $130,000 hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.

Very few people are regularly using "much hyped" artificial intelligence (AI) products like ChatGPT, a survey suggests.

Researchers surveyed 12,000 people in six countries, including the UK, with only 2% of British respondents saying they use such tools on a daily basis.

But the study, from the Reuters Institute and Oxford University, says young people are bucking the trend, with 18 to 24-year-olds the most eager adopters of the tech.

Dr Richard Fletcher, the report's lead author, told the BBC there was a "mismatch" between the "hype" around AI and the "public interest" in it.

The study examined views on generative AI tools - the new generation of products that can respond to simple text prompts with human-sounding answers as well as images, audio and video.

Generative AI burst into the public consciousness when ChatGPT was launched in November 2022.

To play, simply visit YouTube’s website or Android / iOS app and look for Playables in the sidebar. YouTube will let players save their progress and keep track of high scores. There are over 75 games to choose from, including chess and crossword games to more popular casual mobile titles like Angry Birds Showdown!, Trivia Crack, and Cut the Rope.

Remember this leading search engine? You won’t believe how Google looks now. Earlier this month, the place where 91 percent of searches take place underwent a significant change, putting “AI overviews” (aka AI-powered answers) above the actual search results for many queries. While this isn’t good for publishers who rely on people clicking through to their sites in order to stay in business, it’s even worse news for users.

When AI overviews (previously called Google SGE) was in beta, I called it a plagiarism stew, because it copies ideas, sometimes word-for-word, from different content sites and stitches them together in ways that often don’t make sense. Now that AI Overviews is live for U.S. users, that stew is often poisonous: filled with dangerous misinformation, laughable mistakes, or outright prejudice.

The remarkable life of history's first foreign-born samurai and his astonishing journey from Northern Africa to the heights of Japanese society When Yasuke arrived in Japan in the late 1500s, he had already traveled much of the known world. Kidnapped as a child, and trained into a boy soldier in India, he had ended up an indentured servant and bodyguard to the head of the Jesuits in Asia, with whom he visited India, China and the budding Catholic missions in Japan. From the volatile port city of Nagasaki to travel on pirate-infested waters, he lived it all and learned more every day. His arrival in Kyoto, however, literally caused a riot. Most Japanese people had never seen an African man before, and many of them viewed him as the embodiment of the black-skinned (in local traditions) Buddha or a local war god or demon. Among those who were drawn to his presence were Lord Nobunaga, head of the most powerful clan in Japan, who made Yasuke a samurai in his court. Soon, he was learning the traditions of Japan's martial arts, fighting in battles and ascending to the upper echelons of Japanese society. In the four hundred years since, Yasuke has been known in Japan largely as a legendary, perhaps mythical, figure. Now, combining all the primary sources for the first time, African Samurai presents the never-before-told biography of this unique figure of the sixteenth century, one whose travels between countries, cultures and classes offers a new perspective on race in world history and a vivid portrait of life, faith and war in medieval Japan.

The United States Department of Justice and 30 state attorneys general filed a lawsuit against Live Nation Entertainment, the parent company of Ticketmaster, for alleged monopolistic practices.

Live Nation and Ticketmaster merged in 2010, creating a dominant entertainment machine that controls the majority of ticket sales and venue bookings in the country. But Taylor Swift fans’ experience buying tickets for the Eras tour in late 2022 was so horrific that legislators took a closer look at the entertainment giant’s control over the industry — the presale was riddled with glitches and hours-long wait times, while the public sale was canceled due to high traffic.

“Live Nation suffocates its competition using a variety of tactics, from acquisitions of smaller regional promoters and venues, to threats and retaliation to agreements with rivals,” said U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland in a press conference on Thursday.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has run into a bizarre controversy surrounding its protagonist Yasuke. A small corner of the internet contends Yasuke’s status as a Samurai, and has accused Ubisoft of misrepresentation in a series that was never historically accurate to begin with. Unsurprisingly, none of this kerfuffle seems to have impacted pre-orders for the game.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows looks set to sell gangbusters regardless of protagonist discourse

Reliable insider Tom Henderson has apparently received word from his sources at Ubisoft that AC Shadows’ pre-orders are looking strong and no one he’s spoken to appears to be disappointed by them. News site Spiel Times also noted that AC Shadows instantly became one of the most pre-ordered games on Amazon in multiple regions including Japan, where it climbed to the top spot.

SAG-AFTRA, an influential body representing television and radio artists, on Tuesday backed Scarlett Johansson after the American actress raised concerns over the voice feature of a new OpenAI system that she said sounded "eerily similar" to her own.

OpenAI unveiled its latest artificial intelligence model, GPT-4o, last week, featuring an audio-interacting persona named "Sky".

Johansson said on Monday that she had previously turned down a request from the company to use her voice for this system. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman clarified that the voice belonged to a different professional actress and said he was removing Sky's voice from the company's products.

"We thank Ms. Johansson for speaking out on this issue of crucial importance to all SAG-AFTRA members. We share in her concerns and fully support her right to have clarity and transparency regarding the voice used," a SAG-AFTRA spokesperson said.

SAG-AFTRA, which represents about 160,000 entertainment and media professionals globally, played a big role in securing agreements from Hollywood studios for better pay and protections against the use of AI for actors.

Microsoft is making a major push to put AI into laptops. It’s introducing a new branding today called “Copilot Plus PCs” that’ll highlight when Windows laptops come with built-in AI hardware and support for AI features across the operating system.

All of Microsoft’s major laptop partners will offer Copilot Plus PCs, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said at an event at the company’s headquarters on Monday. That includes Dell, Lenovo, Samsung, HP, Acer, and Asus; Microsoft is also introducing two of its own as part of the Surface line. And while Microsoft is also making a big push to bring Arm chips to Windows laptops today, Nadella said that laptops with Intel and AMD chips will offer these AI features, too.
