Christmas present fails. When you buy that perfect Christmas gift for somebody you love only to have it go sideways. That's already happened to Pat this year. What's half the fun of making Christmas cookies? Eating the raw dough! The Center for Disease Control gives that a big NO!! What do you think? Do you eat raw cookie dough or not. We said yes. One of our listeners said bad, bad, bad idea. Did you know that with linkedin when you check somebody's profile they know who it is that's checked it? Yeah, we didn't know that either.....whoops! And 2 of our Country In The Park acts, headliner Jon Pardi and opener Tyler Rich, have come up with a really cool way for all of us to help ongoing Camp Fire relief.
We got to announce the details including lineup for our 20th Country In The Park this morning. Sat, May 11th, 2019 at Cal Expo it's Jon Pardi!! along with Lauren Alaina, Midland, LOCASH and Tyler Rich. Jon called in to tell us how excited he is to be living out on of his dreams (he's wanted to headline Country In The Park since he was 19! And, Jon being Jon, he's making sure that a dollar from every ticket sold goes to the Salvation Army's Camp Fire reliet efforts. There's also a t-shirt that he, Tyler Rich (who will also be at Country In The Park), Cam, Brett Young and Gary Allan have put together and the proceeds from the sales of that t-shirt also go to Camp Fire Relief! Take a listen and hear Jon tell you what the shirt's like and how to get it.
Dreams so real you actually act them out in your sleep. Tom's was basketball, Cody's was a play she was in and Pat's involved snakes (ugg!) Jeanne from Elk Grove told us one about a camper full of cats )for real.....well, almost real). Pat took his son Dimitri to see Santa Claus. The picture went well and then Dimitri tried to sneak a bunch of Candy Canes. How did Pat handle it?? Luke Combs is up for a grammy (yes!!). Cody has the list of nominations. And what dumb thing did you believe in when you were a kid? Or maybe you still believe. If you have siblings you know they can be bull......ahhhh a big influence on what you believe when you're really young. Like Phyllis believing she could actually lay eggs!
Fantastic time last night at our Camp Fire Benefit Concert. Carly Pearce put on a great show including bringing young J J on stage to sing with her. We hoped to get 20-25 thousand dollars for the Salvation Army's Relief Efforts in Butte County. But that wasn't enough for you people. Instead you came with $63,500!! We humbly say thank you...for coming out, supporting and donating. Today is National Cookie Day. If you could only have one type of cookie the rest of your life what would it be? And to Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches couny? A city tries to ban showball fights, emergency room doctors go over the Christmas movie "Home Alone," and tell you what injuries Harry and Marv really would have sustained.
Alexa or Mon? Depends on the question....although asking mom has been around a whole lot longer than asking Alexa. John Almeda (Run John Ron), is 23 and non verbal autistic. His passion is running. Last year he ran the California International Marathon hoping to qualitfy for the Boston Marathon. Sometime during mile 10 he broke his ankle....and still finished! This year he ran it again and finished with a great time. His mom, Vanessa decided to run it too. Half way into the race she sprained her ankle. At mile 22 she was ready to quit when guess who showed up? John....with a donut, coffee, and guided her in, running with her, the last 4 miles. Nicole Kidman does not allow electronic devices in her house/ We asked what was something you were not allowed to do when you were growing up. We had answers of no non-Disney movies, not allowed to wear black, and one in particular that made us pause and say.....no way!
A man at WalMart accidentally shot himself. He'll be fine but listen to find our where and, well, where (yep, two wheres, no waiting). The California International Marathon is this Sunday. An incredible young man is running. He ran it last year and broke his foot...and still finished. We feature John along with the inspriational story of a special needs high school students making collegiate athletic history. And a Southwest Airlines agent is in trouble for making fun of a 5 year old girl's name. That of course is not just wrong, but something that shoudl never happen! At the same time her name is......unusual?!!
Are your devices listening to you? You know, your phone, Alexa, even tablets. The response was overwhelmingly yes!! Many of you have great examples.....Christina's may be the most direct. Pat has 7 Christmas inflatibles in his front yard. What's the over/under on how many will still be in his front yard when he gets home and how many will be blown down the street or sitting in somebody elses yard?! For Christmas: Fake Tree or Real? Over 2 thirds have the same answer. Does it match yours? And a man looking to meet a lady that more than caught his eye ends up donating his bone marrow. Not only did he save a life, what do you think happened with the girl??
Tom finally got his birthday gift from Pat and it was one of the most unique gift wrap jobs ever. Monopoly has a new version just for millennials and wait until you hear how you lose! Last night was a very good night for Paradise High School Athletics. Their boys varsity basketball team played Chico. How it was handled and the results will make you smile. Is it possible that beer is cheaper than water> It is in Pat's hometown and with good reason! And if you want to go to our Camp Fire Benefit Concert with Carly Pearce next Monday, we are down to just GA ticketrs ($20 at kncifm.com)
Even the person who LOVES Christmas can become a little stressed during the season. If Brett Eldredge is Mr Christmas, Pat's his roadies. And Pat had one of those "seasonal" moments over the weekend. You know that person who when you go out to eat has a problem finding their wallet? Yeah, that happened....listen to how the boys dealt with it. Today is Tom's birthday...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOM...and his present is in West Sac, sitting in a facility ready to be delivered. It's been there since Wednesday morning!! Will Tom ever get it?? And 2 brothers from Chicago drive 4,500 miles to deliver much needed supplies for the animals in Butte Country. Pat and Tom have this cool story and a follow up to what the football team from Casa Roble (rolling through the playoffs!) is doing for the team from Paradise.
A pigeon was found very much alive and healthy but wearing a bedazzled vest. Not sure how that happens but we tried our best to find out. You know about the Camp Fire, how many weren't able to make it out, how many are still missing....now hear what it was like for one family who were stuck in traffic trying to get out and surrounded by flames. How did they make it out and what's life like for them now. And if you're looking for opportunities to help, there are 2 Thanksgiving Dinners being put on for evacuees that are looking for volunteers.
