Free speech has always been a contentious issue for Americans as a whole. “Can he say that?” “Did she just say that and with a hard ‘r’ at the end?” “Isn’t that inciting violence?” “I don’t want to hear that he put that there.” All those things have caused battles that have raged in the court of public opinion. And now that controversy has come to Spotify. That donnybrook was the result of Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. Joe Rogan is accused of spreading misinformation and racism on his podcast. This issue has raised the question of what freedom of speech is, and the extent of that freedom. It also begs the question of whether there should be consequences for certain kinds of speech. My guest Flavius Maximus, an artist and activist, and I dive into that issue. Come join us for this thought-provoking discussion.
