Sam identifies with all of these things. So how does she make it work?

Well, for starters, she is not alone. In an industry thats known for being comprised of "misfits," chances are most of us identify with at least one of these things (if not all of them). While Sam's story may not be entirely unique, she hopes that sharing it anyway can help anyone who might be struggling and understand that their love of their career and their mental health don't have to compete with one another.

5 years ago Lauren set out to have one simple thing: purple hair.

What followed this pursuit has been 5 years of multiple stylists, disappointment, breakage, and hours and hours in the salon chair - without ever having her goals achieved. Even after all her unfortunate mishaps with her hair she is still marching forward to get the purple she has been dreaming about and will stop at nothing (even hopping on a plane) to get it.

Unless you've been living under a rock, everyone in the beauty industry has seen the heated conversations on social media about salon policies (like cancellation policies). The convo is often about whether or not we have the right to charge clients for things like lateness, last minute cancellations, color adjustments, and no-shows.

With those policies in mind, I interviewed Sarah to get insight on the client's perspective on this topic. We discuss the most common policies in different salons and she shares her opinion on how it feels to be a client who may get charged for these offenses and whether or not we should also be held accountable when we, as stylists, commit the same offense.
