Okay, okay, I get that this topic may seem down and dreary for some summer reads, but hear me out. Growing up in the home of a parent who immigrated here to the US from Germany, with grandparents who grew up during WW2 in Germany, I've always been drawn to stories about this time in history. And, with everything going on in the world, maybe one of the best things we can do is to look back and learn from history instead of removing and trying to forget (or worse deny) that it ever happened.
In today's episode, I share 6 of my favorite books based during WW2 and explain what it was about that book that broke my heart in the best way possible. WARNING! Spoiler Alerts! I do get into some details about these books which could potentially be a spoiler if you haven't read them just yet.
Books Highlighted in Today's Episode:
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris
Night by Elie Wiesel
The Reader by Bernhard Schlink
All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
