In the book of Judges we read of an unnamed priest who had no right to be a priest. I think about that priest often. He stands as an admonition and an example of how we are not supposed to be. There is a pernicious doctrine that is taught from time to time which asserts that no one can read the Bible and come to a knowledge of the truth and obey that truth unless one is guided by a Christian. Friends, this doctrine changes the nature of how God interacts with the world trough the Word. This adds another mediator between God and man. In this episode we scrutinize this doctrine and we show a Bible example of where "natural" men obeyed the gospel because of their reading the Scriptures, something that those who hold the view in questions say is impossible. This one episode was actually recorded in two parts both of which were uploaded as one podcast.

Awhile back a listener asked me to do a Cogitations episode about John 20:19-23. I have heard some claim that the apostles received the Holy Spirit that day and not on the day of Pentecost. I have also heard this passage used to teach the denominational doctrine of absolution. Hopefully this short podcast will put to rest both of these issues.
