  • Cogitations e141: about how we read things
Evidently a few years ago I shared a meme that had the results of a poll. The meme sounded good and illustrated a point that needed to be made. However, I did a cursory google search and found that the poll on which the meme was based had never happened. It was a total sham. This is the occasion of today's episode of Cogitations. How do we read things? Does the Bible have anything to say about it? Well, of course it does! Take a listen and let me know what you think. If you like what we do and want to help out consider becoming a patron: www.patreon.com/nearchurches

  • Cogitations e140: about going heaven
This may be a revisited topic but that's ok. This is a listener request. One of the main reasons the Cogitations podcast exists is for Bible Q&A. Have you ever heard someone say, my loved on is looking down from heaven? Do we really go to heaven immediately if we die in faith? Take a listen and let me know what you think. If you want to help us keep doing what we do, www.patreon.com/nearchurches

  • Cogitations e139: about Jesus and Netflix
Are you angry at Netflix over their portrayal of Jesus as a gat man? Were you this angry when the show American Dad portrayed Him as a whoremonger who stole Stan's wife? There is a reason for outrage, just make sure you are not dancing to the tune of the world just because the world wants you to dance. If you like what we do and want to help us do more of it, www.partreon.com/nearchurches

  • Cogitations e138: about affirmative action
This episode was inspired by a video I watched on youtube from Louder with Crowder. He did a segment about affirmative action claiming that affirmative action was racist. I believe it to be so. Take a listen and let me know if I give proper evidence. What can not be argued is the affirmative action goes against three principles found in Scripture. • Cogitations rerun e83: about an acceptable margin of error
I apologize for the rerun episodes lately. I am waiting on a piece of equipment to be delivered. Hopefully all will be back to normal this week.
Many times Christians think about sin with the idea of an acceptable margin of error. How does God think about sin? Do you think He allows for an acceptable margin of error? Take a listen to this episode of Cogitations and let me know what you think.

  • Cogitations rerun e68: about being made in the image of God
Please be patient with us. We will resume our daily content soon. Until then here is a rerun episode. Have you ever thought about how the creation account describes being made in the image of God? I think too often we overlook the wonderful things that can be taught and learned form this first account in the Bible. We relegate it to children's Bible classes and do not give this epic piece of Scripture the proper place it deserves. It was first in the Bible for a reason and not just because it is first in order.  It tells us so much about God and how we relate to him. We hope you enjoy this episode of Cogitations. If you have any questions please ask them. They will probably get their own episode.

I have really been engrossed and enjoying the cartoon, Star Wars Rebels on Disney +. So much was I enjoying this program that it got me to thinking, why? I am a grown man firmly rooted in reality. Why do I like this cartoon so much. Well, you will have to listen to the episode for the answer. I hope you like it.

  • Cogitations e136: about the angels of the church of Asia Minor
This episode is a listener question. Do churches today have angels like there were for the seven churches of Asia Minor recorded in the book of Revelation? I enjoyed the episode and received allot of positive feedback from it. Let me know what you think. Here is the link to the lesson I did that is on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/channels/addedteam/377598983if you like what we do and want to help, www.patreon.com/nearchurches

  • Cogitations e135: about cancel culture and the church
Look! I released a podcast before 9 PM.  This episode of Cogitations has to do with an article that I read online. The reason I chose to feature it in this episode is because folk were getting triggered at the title of the article and, from what I could tell, not giving th article a chance. Anywho, take a listen to the podcast. In the podcast I read the article but if you would like to read it, I will link it here: https://jackrwilkie.com/2019/12/05/the-church-of-christ-invented-cancel-culture/?fbclid=IwAR2s-k8UGRkW6pMHEmWHFaj4RS9-nkjKlbQkc0xJPeN6F1J76ulnyd9WMdE

  • Cogitations e134: about pride not always being sinful
We shared a meme about straight pride and it got some pushback from some virtue signalers. The pushback is that all pride is sinful. This is just not true. SO, in this episode of Cogitations we look at pride and define it and see just whether or not all pride in sinful and if there is a situation where one can be prideful with a godly pride.
