  • Cogitations e150: about conversion
This is an episode based off a post that I shared in the WTT group. The answer to all the world's problems is conversion. Everything we try to do to curtail sin is just trying to help symptoms with no cure. Take a listen and let me know what you think. If you would like to supply the work, www.patreon.com/nearchurches

  • Cogitations e149: listener question about legalism
This episode is from a listener questions asking about legalism. I have done allot of content about this issue but I thought I'd take about the issue of legalism again. Many times what people mean when the accuse someone of being legalistic is, really, just wanting to follow the Bible as it is written. Take a listen and let me know what you think. If you like what we do and want to support it, www.patreon.com/nearchurches

  • Cogitations 148: about the cup of blessing
Well, there has been some chatter about this issue of "one cup" again on the internet. I suppose as long as the world turns this will be an issue. It is not because the Bible is silent on it. We have exactly what Jesus did and the apostles did. Take a listen and let me know what you think.

  • Cogitations e147: more about self defense
This episode is an extension of yesterday's. In this episode we discuss some objections to the idea that Christians can defend themselves. Hopefully we do a good job with this topic. • Cogitations extra: about discerning matters of judgment
This is a Cogitations and We Talk Truth extra episode. This episode is on both channels. It seems that this time of year brings out so much harsh judgment and condemnation from otherwise loving and carting brethren. I felt like it was time to revisit this topic. Won't you take a listen and let us know what you think. Also, if you want to help us our, www.patreon.com/nearchurches

  • Cogitations e144: about what women can do for Jesus
I have dealt so much with folk trying to tell me what all women can not do I thought I would make this podcast about what women can do for Jesus. There is so much misconception concerning this issue. Take a listen and tell me what you think. If you want to help me out, www.patreon.com/nearchurches

  • Cogitations e143: about women baptizing
An issue that was uncovered from my last podcast. It seems that many are under the impression that women can not baptize. If one wants to become a Christian that one must seek out a Christian male. The Great Commission is to men and women. In this podcast I talk about some problems with this idea of men only baptizing. If you like what we do and want to be a part of it please consider becoming a patron at www.patreon.com/nearchurches

  • Cogitations e142: about good intentions and God's justice
This episode of Cogitations is about the idea that our good intentions can change the commandments of God. I made a post about an old man in hospice care bing baptized wrongly. Here is what I wrote:
Every so often there is a question about baptism and a body part inadvertently coming up out of the water. The answer, no, it is not a scriptural baptism and therefore the person only got wet.
So often that answer is met with indignation about God’s grace and mercy. Well, folks, here is the conclusion to thinking exceptions can be made to the form of baptism. Sitting in a tub of water, a man with a genuine and honest heart surrounded by genuine and honest people are genuinely, honestly, and ignorantly mistaken about the mode of baptism.
This man is now very happy and comforted on his path to hell because he and folk around him decided that God would be ok with only a small deviation from the pattern.
It does not matter how genuine and loving you are. It does not matter that your intentions were to do the right thing. All the good intentions in the world won’t help you if you didn’t simply follow the instructions written in God’s Word. Here is the link to the video:
