Cogitations

An interesting conversation was had about baptism based on an article looking at the grammar of Mark 16:16. I think this episode will be profitable because it will pour cement to an already stable foundation. We hope you enjoy.

Feeling like you are overlooked can cause great anxiety and feelings of doubt concerning one's own self-worth. This is a natural phenomenon. The Bible can help us here.

The New Testament is replete with instances where Jesus Christ chooses to spend time with social outcasts, sinners, and so-called misfits rather than with the religious elite. This evident in his interactions with tax collectors, fishermen, and even a Samaritan woman. This poses a compelling question: why did Jesus favor these seemingly unworthy individuals over those who, by societal standards, were considered virtuous and devout? The answer lies in the contrast between self-righteousness and genuine humility, the limitations of ritualistic piety, and a broader, more inclusive vision of community and spirituality.

How do we handle people who are overtaken in a fault? I know what is said by Paul recorded in Galatians 6:1, but how does that play out in real time? I believe from an account in Scripture where a woman taken in the act of adultery is brought before Jesus we can, at least, learn what not to do and, perhaps, from Jesus' reaction, what to do.

The LDS, Mormons, teach that John the apostle is still alive. I wonder what the ramification of this doctrine is. I am not sure I will know unless I actually ask a Mormon which I do not want to find out enough to do. What we will do is scrutinize the claim from the Bible and see if it holds water.

The gut-wrencing topic of suicide is very difficult to discuss. I have been asked some questions that I will attempt to answer with this episode.
