Cogitations

The life of Jesus Christ is chronicled through four distinct Gospel accounts, each penned by a different author. Any event or teaching mentioned in a single Gospel naturally commands attention; its significance only amplifies when found in all four. One such universally recounted event is the burial of Jesus in a specific tomb. The events surrounding His burial offer deep insights that extend beyond their historical context, not only fulfilling Mosaic law and prophecy but also informing our modern understanding of baptism. Drawing on various scriptural accounts, this article aims to elucidate the reasons for the selection of Jesus' tomb and explore how these factors serve as instructive parallels for the Christian rite of baptism.

It's easy to look back at ancient civilizations and think we've evolved far beyond their practices and beliefs. However, closer examination reveals more similarities than one might admit. This article discusses the parallels between ancient Canaanite practices and contemporary behaviors, particularly focusing on worship of nature and the issue of abortion. We'll explore what the Bible says about these topics and the potential remedies it offers for moral degradation in society.

I hope you join in and discuss this pertinent topic with me.

This one is from the days of the We Talk Truth podcast when I was in Arkansas. This episode included Aaron Dodson and Brock Kendal. We are talking about the wheat and the tares and discussing it in the context and seeing if it is a second coming parable or a parable for those in that present age contemporary with Jesus speaking of the destruction of Jerusalem. Let us know what you think.

In a world ever so vibrant with distractions, the devil finds fertile ground to creep in, almost unnoticed. From the desensitization of our church environments to a diminished focus on the spiritual nurturing of our young, we are slowly, yet progressively, diverging from the biblical pathway. As we navigate these choppy waters, it is paramount to remain grounded in the teachings of scripture, lest we let Satan slip into our homes and lead astray the innocent ones, our children.

In contemporary discussions about the Christian walk of faith, one recurrent theme is the way the Holy Spirit works in our lives. There are those who firmly assert that the Holy Spirit guides, illuminates, and convicts humans directly, reaching out to individuals separately from the Word of God. Looking closely at the scriptures, especially the statements made in Psalm 119, we find a different story. The Psalmist statements indicate that everything we credit to the Holy Spirit is attributed to God's Word in some form or another. This means that the actions of the Holy Spirit are carried out through God's Word. Let's dig into this idea further by examining the verses in Psalm 119 that show the relationship between the work of the Holy Spirit and God's Word.
