  • about phrases we say in prayer s3e151
This is one I actually do not want you to take too seriously. A question was asked on my podbean channel about a phrase I mentioned in passing. This episode is to answer that question and to bring a point to light. I hope you are edified.

Also, this is the audio of a regular Monday night livestream. During the livestream all kinds of extraneous questions are asked and we typically "chase rabbits."  It usually is a pretty good time for the folk tuning in.

  • about consumerism again...10 reasons not to go to church s3e146

I made this episode from a list of reasons not to go to a football game. Here is the post:

WHY I DON'T GO TO FOOTBALL GAMES!
Some time ago, a sister in Christ gave me a little list that I thought would be worth sharing with you. It's about football, or at least it claims to be. But, it's really about worship--and why some folks don't take part in it. It is about excuses--really weak excuses. To make these excuses about football games sounds absurd. But, when people make these same excuses about worship, they think these are really good reasons for staying away from God!
    See what you think.
Here are ten reasons why I don't go to football games:
    1. The coach never came to visit me.
    2. The seats were not very comfortable.
    3. Every time I went, they asked me for money.
    4. The referees made a decision I didn't agree with.
    5. The people sitting next to me were not very friendly.
    6. My parents forced me to go to games when I was young.
    7. There were too many hypocrites who attended the ball game.
    8. Some games went into overtime, so I was late getting back home.
    9. I read a book on football, so I know more than the coaches, anyway.
    10. I don't take my kids--so they can make up their own minds about sports.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you heard excuses like these when people talk about why they don't attend worship? They sound pretty lame, don't they? It sounds like it is all about me and my comfort and what I want. These excuses forget about God! Did you also notice that each one is a little longer than the one before? And, after these are exhausted, folks will offer more excuses that are longer still!
It is very different than David's attitude in Psalm 122:1 and Psalm 128:1.
"I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go into the house of the LORD.'"
"Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways."
What David writes is what real life and blessing is all about. And it is not a game.
