The fog of Cognitive Dissonance keeps many people trapped in particular paradigms & ideologies for LIFE! From birth our lives start with many of these. We can take on beliefs from our families, friends, classmates, co-workers, television, social media, etc. Lots of dissonance comes from the unwavering beliefs of the masses. Many larger group beliefs come from deferring to authority figures. Politicians, entertainers, media, police, judges, bosses, scientist, doctors, successful entrepreneurs. When mass groups decide on one specific direction, people become less interested in verification of the facts. So, no evidence is then required to prove validity of a belief or event.
How often to you challenge any of your most firmly held beliefs? This episode is all about becoming humble & asking questions about our beliefs. Because it is way to easy to become dogmatic. I have found hubris over the years holding onto "my truths". I have been humbled a few times. Now I would rather be ready to accept new evidence or a different point of view... whether it changes my mind or not.
"Its easier to fool people, rather than convince them they have been fooled." Mark Twain
Ego & pride are big contributors to this condition. These are limiting factors to advancement. Once you profess to know all of any given subject...you cease to grow as a human being. Then stagnation & decay is the position you will remain. OPEN YOUR MIND.
