We’re going up the west coast to Portland, Oregon to chat with Mike Nelson, head roaster of Junior’s Roasted Coffee and owner of Guilder! Mike brings over 10 years of experience in the industry where he has worked as a barista, consultant, roaster, and trainer with specialty coffee companies in Portland, Oregon, New York, NY, Sweden, and Denmark. He’s also been with some of the biggest names in the cold brew industry (Stumptown, Blue Bottle…just to name a few) On this episode, Mike and I chat about the development of cold brew within the past ten years, what is coffee leaf rust and why we should be concerned, and how the coffee scene in Portland compares to the rest of the world.
