In the sixty-sixth episode of Collecting Real Estate, we had a recap on Stephen Pearse's first year as a real estate investor.

Stephen Pearse received his bachelor’s degree in international business and Finance and master’s degree in Entrepreneurship from the University of Tampa. After working in B2B sales and account management, he started in multifamily real estate investing in 2021 with Hamel Real Estate. Stephen is the sole owner of 10 apartments in the Capital District of NY and is planning on expanding into short term rentals in the Tampa, FL market. He is also a licensed NYS Realtor.

Stephen plans on using his investing, sales and account management experience to find, buy and operate multifamily properties. In his spare time Stephen enjoys golf, snowboarding and poker.

In the sixty-fifth episode of Collecting Real Estate, we interviewed Chad Kastel.

Chad has been a day Trader since 2012 focusing on options. He played poker and ran high stakes private games from 2017-2021. Chad then started Real Estate investing in 2016 with an Airbnb House hack in Florida . Afterwards, he purchased a mixed-use duplex in upstate NY in 2019. 

In 2021 Chad decided to scale and formed an equity partnership with a local GC. He put up 100% of the capital + rehab (and knowledge). The GC helps find properties, oversees rehab, finds/manages tenants. Chad owns a property until he gets his principal investment back. After the GC receives his principle, he owns 40% of the equity in the property plus 40% of cashflow. 

They look for properties that BRRRR quickly and banks that will match the speed they need.  They are focused on C-class properties that cash flow well in the Binghamton, NY area. In 2021 they purchased a Duplex, triplex, 6 unit (currently under construction), 5-unit (lease option, great set up for us), a SFH (was supposed to flip quickly and it didn't), a mixed-use duplex (seller financing 10% down), a 10-unit MF (9/10 we rented) and a 12-unit MF with 2 commercial spaces. 

They also got a portfolio in Johnson City on their Main St under contract and are waiting to finish the 6-unit and get the refinances on the 10/12 units. They expect to have ~2M in AUM from 2021 with about $100,000 of their money in the deal. For 2022 they are going to double that and get in to college rentals. . Chad and his partner are beginning the Jake and Gino Courses this week and have their fist coaching calls. Somewhere near the end of 2022 or 2023 they are going to balance the portfolio and do some investing in B-Class units in A-class markets. They are going to use the course to hone our syndication skills to be able to do this.

In the sixty- fourth episode of Collecting Real Estate, we interviewed Paul Moore from Wellings Capital.

After a stint at Ford Motor Company, Paul co-founded a staffing firm where he was two-time finalist for Michigan Entrepreneur of the Year. After selling to a publicly traded firm, Paul began investing in real estate. He founded multiple investment and development companies, appeared on HGTV, and completed over 100 commercial and residential investments and exits.

He has contributed to Fox Business and The Real Estate Guys Radio and is a regular contributor to BiggerPockets, producing live video and blog content. Paul also co-hosted a wealth-building podcast called How to Lose Money and he has been a featured guest on over 200 podcasts. Paul is a three-time real estate author and BiggerPockets recently published his new book called Storing Up Profits- Capitalized on America's Obsession with Stuff by Investing in Self-Storage. Paul is the Founder and Managing Partner of Wellings Capital, a real estate private equity firm. Wellings Capital designates a portion of its profits to thwart human trafficking and rescue its victims.

 In the sixty-third episode of Collecting Real Estate, we interviewed Travis Gibson from Freeman Equity.

Travis is an experienced real estate investor and managing partner of the Freeman Equity with over $40M in assets under management. He has 25 years of experience in real estate investing in several markets across the United States in both the residential and commercial spaces. He focuses on cash flowing properties to create significant passive income for investors. He is a Software engineer by trade and has spent over 25 years in IT management positions for several Fortune 500 firms including Apple. He applies that experience when identifying investment opportunities and markets.

Travis comes from blue collar roots in Saginaw, Michigan. After the General Motors plant that employed his parents was shut down in the mid-seventies the family was forced to migrate to Sacramento, California in pursuit of the American dream. His parents worked diligently to purchase their first single family home and ultimately a portfolio of over 30 homes in the area. It is during this time that he learned the work ethic for finding the best deals and the power of investing in cash flowing real estate. He currently resides in Elverta, California with his wife of over twenty years, three children and one grandchild.

Travis has presented at companies like One Finance, ECMC, & Apple where he teaches employees how to generate passive income while minimizing their tax liabilities in order to achieve their financial goals.

In the sixty-second episode of Collecting Real Estate, we interviewed Lee Fjord from Green Forest Capital. 

Lee is a results-driven, goal oriented professional real estate agent and investor with a "go-getter" attitude, currently focusing on brokering commercial real estate transactions throughout Greater St. Louis and surrounding markets. He approaches each client with the goal of meeting or exceeding all of their expectations to ensure the creation of "long lasting" and trusted relationships.

Gino Barbaro is an investor, business owner, author and entrepreneur. He has grown his real estate portfolio to over 1400 multifamily units. He is the co-founder of Jake & Gino, a multifamily real estate education company that offers coaching and training in real estate founded upon their proprietary framework of Buy Right, Manage Right & Finance Right.

John Geldert is an investor from the NYC area with properties in PA and AL. John was able to shift his mindset and leave his W-2 job in order to pursue real estate full time. John credits his strong work ethic and positive mental attitude for getting him to where he is today.

In the fifty-seventh episode of Collecting Real Estate, we interviewed Frank LaMark from Lamco Investments. 

Frank LaMark founded Lamco Investments in 2018 with a vision. A vision to creatively acquire properties big and small while revitalizing neighborhoods and communities! With unmatched passion and drive he fix and flipped his first property at age 19 while still living with his parents in Itasca, Illinois. At age 20, he jumped into the auto industry and sold cars for Torco Chrysler Plymouth and then Packey Webb Ford In Wheaton/Glen Ellyn Illinois. This industry was aggressive and taught Frank sound fundamentals in sales, sales management and financing. 

Fast forward 10 years, the auto industry took a down turn after 9-11 so Frank decided to take the sales and marketing skills that he been learning for a decade and start a kitchen cabinet design showroom selling cabinetry and countertops. This new venture snowballed into manufacturing, importation and the creation of his own line of RTA - ready to assemble kitchen cabinetry. Selling in showrooms all over the country as well as online via e-commerce direct to consumer and top retailers. At the time the internet was new and some would call Frank a disruptor and others would call him a visionary for selling cabinetry online.

Flash forward to 2018 when Frank founded Lamco Investments, LLC. He switched his focus from cabinetry to real estate full time. Acquiring properties direct to seller using old fashion roll up your sleeves hard work.
