We’re back with another episode of The Basketball Show with Jim Dunaway and Taylor Korn! Conference play is half way over and both Auburn and Alabama remain DOMINATE in SEC play. Auburn is coming off two road wins over LSU and Ole Miss, Alabama went 2-0 with a win over Mississippi State on the road and Georgia in Coleman Coliseum.

In a HISTORICALLY dominate Southeastern Conference, how many wins do you need to win the regular season title? Entering the season 13-5 was a common prediction but our predictions have changed half way through conference play.

Alabama has the mid—week off, resuming play as they travel to Fayetteville to play Arkansas, who is fresh off a win over Kentucky in Rupp Arena, on Saturday. Auburn returns to the friendly confines of Neville Arena to host Oklahoma and Florida after a week consisting of back-to-back road games.

Mo Dioubate has been a constant contributor for the Crimson Tide — is he the X-Factor? Chris Youngblood? Labaron Philon?

Does Alabama have a turnover problem? The Crimson Tide’s 21 turnovers definitely played a part in Alabama’s only conference loss to Ole Miss — how can they get the turnovers cleaned up so it doesn’t come back to bite them in March?

With the win over No. 23 Ole Miss, the No. 1 Auburn Tigers now have multiple road wins over ranked SEC opponents for the second time in program history and improve to 20-1 in the season, 8-0 in conference play. Johni Broome had a HOT end to the first half, hitting a 3-point shot to end the first 20 minutes of play and lead Auburn with 20 points. Chad Baker-Mazara, Miles Kelly, Denver Jones, Dylan Cardwell and Johni Broome all scored in double figures.

After another week of conference play, Auburn remains undefeated in SEC play and the Tigers alongside Alabama are a perfect 4-0 on the road.

In Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology, Auburn is the No. 1 overall seed and Alabama is the No. 2 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament. The last time two SEC teams were 1 seeds was 1980 (Kentucky and LSU).

If you look back at the past 23 National Champions, they all have one thing in common: they ended the season ranked in the Top-25 of Kenpom’s adjusted defensive efficiency and the Top-40 of Kenpom’s adjusted offensive efficiency. There are currently 14 teams who fall into both of those categories.

Chris Youngblood had a season high 23 points in Alabama’s last outing on the road vs Mississippi State and is starting to emerge as an X-Factor for this Alabama team. Youngblood, Aden Holloway, and Miles Kelly are our picks for most impactful newcomers in Tuscaloosa and Auburn this season.
