  • Can Brad Pitt Beat Oscar Winners Al Pacino and Tom Hanks? - For Your Consideration
On this week’s For Your Consideration, Collider’s awards experts Scott Mantz and Jeff Sneider are joined by special guest John Rocha as they examine the Best Supporting Actor category and whether Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star Brad Pitt can stave off past Oscar winners Al Pacino and Tom Hanks, who are in the mix for The Irishman and the Mister Rogers movie A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, respectively. Pitt has won Best Picture before as a producer, but he has never won an acting statue despite being nominated three times in the past.Meanwhile, Jeff thinks that Joe Pesci stands as good a shot as his Irishman co-star Pacino, and urges his fellow panelists not to overlook Oscar winner Jamie Foxx, who is said to be the standout in Just Mercy. Scott thinks that Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins could score a nomination for his turn in The Two Popes, while John thinks a different Netflix performance could crack the final five -- Wesley Snipes from Dolemite Is My Name.Shia LaBeouf is also firmly in the mix, having written a killer role for himself in the autobiographical drama Honey Boy. The Lighthouse may have divided audiences, but just about everyone can agree that Willem Dafoe was fantastic. And the guys are keeping an eye on Sterling K. Brown, whose performance in Waves is making, uh, waves. There are a ton of others in the mix, including Tracy Letts from Ford v Ferrari and Song Kang-ho from Parasite, so make sure to leave a COMMENT below, and remember to LIKE and SHARE this video on social media. • Robert De Niro May Get the Last Laugh Over Joker in Best Actor Race - For Your Consideration
On this week’s For Your Consideration, Collider’s awards experts Scott Mantz, Perri Nemiroff and Jeff Sneider examine the Best Actor category and whether The Irishman star Robert De Niro will get the last laugh over his Joker co-star Joaquin Phoenix. The panel agrees that both actors will be nominated this year, so who could give them a run for their money? For starters, Adam Driver, who turns in a career-best performance in Marriage Story, and Leonardo DiCaprio, whose portrayal of a fading movie star whose best days are behind him in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood could resonate with older Academy members. As for that fifth slot, it's totally up for grabs, and Scott, Perri and Jeff are all backing different ponies at this stage in the game. Scott likes Antonio Banderas to score his first Oscar nomination for Pain and Glory, while Perri rallies behind Uncut Gems star Adam Sandler, who goes to some dark places as a compulsive gambler. Meanwhile, Jeff points out that Clint Eastwood has directed five actors to Academy Awards, and he suspects that up-and-comer Paul Walter Hauser could surprise with his turn in Richard Jewell. There are a ton of others in the mix, from the Netflix duo of Eddie Murphy and Jonathan Pryce to younger actors like Taron Egerton and Michael B. Jordan, not to mention both Ford v Ferrari leads Matt Damon and Christian Bale, so make sure to tune in to FYC all season long as they chronicle who's up and who's down in the Oscar race.
